The @RwandaICT permanent secretary @yves_Iradukunda graced the launch of the validation workshop and training modules for @COMESA_HQ @jumuiya @SADC_News Regional ICT Associations by @KnowledgeCLtd as a Guest of Honor. He informed delegates that @RwandaGov recognizes that digital development and innovation was a priority area that promotes prosperity and economic development. He acknowledged the contribution of RICTAs to the ICT ecosystem in Africa and noted that through the RICTAs, practical solutions to topical ICT issues He confirmed that @RwandaGov acknowledges @COMESA_HQ’s role in harnessing ICT development in Africa and affirmed that the Government of Rwanda would continue to support and promote the success of the EGEE-ICT program.

Today, I had a privilege to attend validation workshop on Business Models, Training Modules, and Regional ICT Associations Training organized by @COMESA_HQ, @jumuiya, @IGADsecretariat, @commission_coi and @SADC_News . By enhancing Governance and enabling environment in the ICT sector projects, the workshop aimed to validate draft business models and strategies, aligned with promoting fair competition for affordable,reliable and accessible #InternetForAll. I have learnt that it’s equally important to understand the role of ICT in #Agriculture transformation and this workshop promises a significant contribution in the sector by 2050.

Today, I attended the official opening of the Validation Workshop for the Draft Training and Business Modules for the Regional #ICT Associations, organized by @COMESA_HQ , @jumuiya , @IGADsecretariat , @commission_coi , and @SADC_News. The workshop aimed to enhance governance and the enabling environment in the ICT sector across #Eastern, #Southern Africa, and the #Indian Ocean regions. The primary objective was to propose changes to the draft business models and training modules for Regional ICT Associations. During the opening remarks, the @RwandaICT Permanent Secretary @yves_Iradukunda praised Rwanda's digitalization progress over the past 20 years. He emphasized the need for increased smartphone penetration, affordability, and reduced broadband costs to further advance the country's digital landscape. The workshop discussions focused on emerging technologies like #AI, #IoT, #BigData and Analytics, #Robotics, #Drones, Autonomous Vehicles, Cloud Computing, and #Cybersecurity. These technologies were explored from multiple perspectives, including understanding the technology, use cases, social and economic implications, opportunities for developing countries, ethical and regulatory considerations, and the role of regulators. A key area that needed to be explored is the impact of these technologies on agriculture in Africa. With agriculture being crucial for many African economies, integrating advanced ICT solutions promises to revolutionize the sector by 2050. Technologies such as precision farming, drones, big data analytics, robotics, and cloud computing will enhance efficiency, productivity, and sustainability. The workshop must highlight the potential of ICT to transform agriculture, ensuring food security and economic prosperity. This collaborative effort between regional #ICT associations and stakeholders is a step toward a future where technology will create a sustainable and advanced African digital economy for all.

Today marks the start and my participation as a @KnowledgeCLtd trainer in the 10-day technical assistance and training program for @COMESA_HQ Regional ICT Associations (CRASA, SATA, SAPOA, ARICEA, EACO, SADC). The training modules shall include; Enhancing the operations of RICTAs, Business ventures, Monitoring and evaluation, Emerging technologies and their impact for development, ICT statistics for RICTAs, Leadership and advocacy skills.

We’ve been in the kitchen the past 6 months preparing training content for @COMESA_HQ Regional ICT Associations (RICTAs) and today marks the beginning of technical assistance and training of the various RICTAs
