@KyleBetit @BlueBoxDave @JonSnow50616798 No gun during his first incident with ICE, 2 days later, he brings a 9mm and 2 clips of ammunition. He’s looking to up his game and lost his life making a bad decision.

I knew exactly what was happening in the Pretti shooting immediately for 3 reasons. 1: I’ve gone to Minneapolis and Portland recently. 2: I’ve covered Antifa for 10 years 3: I understand how the left rolls out narratives.

@wrdcsc @ClarkeAtAmerica MN absolutely should not cooperate with DHS! The Trump regime is lawless and lies constantly.

Citizens who make arguably imprudent protest choices should not be subject to capital punishment de jure or de facto. If DHS can’t hire professionals capable of deescalation and restraint they should leave MN. And yes MN should cooperate with DHS on all legitimate removals.
Tom Cotton@SenTomCotton

The deaths of Renee Good and Alex Pretti are regrettable tragedies. They could’ve been avoided—& further unrest can be avoided—if state & local officials work with federal law enforcement and stop encouraging civilians to interfere. There can be no mob veto on enforcing the law.

I hope I'm being overly alarmist, but I see the US sliding toward police-state features in enforcement right now. With funding locked in at unprecedented levels, the infrastructure could solidify before 2028, and we know historically what often happens to elections in places where state abuses go unchecked. The 2026 midterms feel like the most consequential in living memory.

Trying to predict the outrages of autocrats is hopeless because their superpower is to generate constant shocks to dominate the environment. But what’s happening in Minnesota is method, not madness. Trump wants violence, to radicalize & divide, to create pretext for crackdowns.
Fred Wellman@FPWellman

They tried to cover it up immediately and the Minneapolis police chief refused. Witnesses have been taken to police headquarters and all available off duty police have been called to work. ICE cannot be trusted to tell the truth. Congress must act now. The Courts must stop the stupid foot dragging. Enough is enough.

As an independent voter who leans slightly right, I feel I’ve been given the following two choices: 1) the party that executes US citizens for political theater and the lies about what is clear on video 2) the party that doesn’t do that

Do not let anyone tell you that you shouldn't record law enforcement (so long as you're not physically impeding them). Citizen video has decisively rebutted the administration's lies. The evidence of our eyes contradicts the dishonesty of the administration's words.

.@realDonaldTrump should pull ICE out of MN today & announce that there will be no more immigration enforcement in MN at all. All illegals in the US are encouraged to move there. And if any illegal is found outside of MN & gets deported, they can never apply for re-entry.
Governor Tim Walz@GovTimWalz

I just spoke with the White House after another horrific shooting by federal agents this morning. Minnesota has had it. This is sickening. The President must end this operation. Pull the thousands of violent, untrained officers out of Minnesota. Now.

NYT description of the video. This is open and shut. They took the gun, and then shot him in the back. An agent begins shoving the demonstrators, and squirts pepper spray at their faces. At this moment, Mr. Pretti has both hands clearly visible. One is holding his phone, while he holds the other up to protect himself from pepper spray. He moves to help one of the protesters who was sprayed, as other agents approach and pull him from behind. Several agents tussle with Mr. Pretti before bringing him to his knees. He appears to resist as the agents grab his legs, push down on his back and strike him repeatedly. The footage shows an agent approaching with empty hands and grabbing at Mr. Pretti as the others hold him down. About eight seconds after he is pinned, agents yell that he has a gun, indicating that they may not have known he was armed until he was on the ground. The same agent who approached with empty hands pulls a gun from among the group that appears to match the profile of a firearm DHS said belonged to Mr. Pretti. The agents appear to have him under their control, with his arms pinned near his head. As the gun emerges from the melee, another agent aims his own firearm at Mr. Pretti’s back and appears to fire one shot at close range. He then appears to continue firing at Mr. Pretti, who collapses. A third agent unholsters a weapon. Both agents appear to fire additional shots into Mr. Pretti as he lies motionless. In total, at least 10 shots appear to have been fired within five seconds. This is why you record them, wherever they go. The administration will still lie and we can't expect them to be shamed into doing the right thing, but the fact that it is this clear creates difficulties for them. They may back out of Minnesota, but I personally would be shocked if the agent faced federal charges. They just don't care.

Now, this is important, people. Watch what happens. This is how their narrative propaganda works: As I’ve been saying, their first step is to change the law and mischaracterize what self-defense means. They do this when the facts do not favor them. The second step is to change/deny the unfavorable facts when we demonstrate that the law is not what they say it is. They began by denying that the right of self-defense even applied because “ICE agents are not cops,” or “She was unarmed,” or that “a car can’t be a threat.” When we last saw them, they had moved on to Step #2, denying that he was threatened by the vehicle, but now we have a video showing him being struck by the car. So, they pivot back to Step #1. You are seeing Step #1 in action. They are attempting to create a new definition of self-defense to fit their bad facts. Notice how they all use the term “run over.” That is not the legal standard. The agent did not have to be “run over” for the right of self-defense to arise. He must have been in reasonable fear of his life or grave injury, and that can come from the vehicle driving at him. The car doesn’t even have to hit him, much less “run over” him, for his right of self-defense to arise. The left is changing the definition of self-defense, or trying to, because the facts manifestly do not favor them, and, being on video, the facts are difficult to deny to normal people. However, leftists will stick with a narrative, regardless of what the video shows. This is a play to influence normal people. So, they claim that self-defense does not arise because he wasn’t run over. We will explain, for the benefit of normal people, that he doesn’t have to be run over. He can be struck or threatened and the law of self-defense arises. So, look for them to pivot back to Step #2 and deny what is shown on the video once again.

Jacob Frey: "This is not sustainable. This is an impossible situation that our city is presently being put in, and at the same time we are trying to find a way forward to keep people safe, to protect our neighbors, to maintain order. We're in a position right now where we have residents that are asking the very limited number of police officers to fight ICE agents on the street, to stand by their neighbors. We cannot be at a place right now in America where we have two governmental agencies that are literally fighting one another. We are put in this position because we have approximately 600 police officers in Minneapolis -- far fewer that are able to work at any given time. And there are approximately 3,000 ICE agents in the area."
