As Hanukkah begins, the world is grieving today’s antisemitic terror attack in Bondi Beach. Our thoughts are with the victims’ families and Toronto’s Jewish community. We stand against hate and terrorism. While there is no nexus to Toronto, the @TorontoPolice have deployed a whole-of-service approach to increase police presence and visibility to Toronto’s Jewish communities including at schools, places of worship, events today and throughout the holidays.

As the Jewish community observes the High Holy Days, we recognize the importance of safety and security. Over the coming weeks, our officers will increase patrols and maintain a visible presence near synagogues and other places of worship across Toronto. Command posts will also be established at strategic locations. We will continue working with our partners to ensure our communities are safe and feel safe.

Nearly all major crime indicators in Toronto are down in 2025, but distraction-style thefts are on the rise. That’s why we’re increasing our efforts to arrest and charge those responsible. Protect yourself and your belongings by staying aware of your surroundings, and always keeping your valuables close to your body. News Release: tps.to/63926

Leadership is a practice, a commitment and a responsibility. It was an honour to welcome women from across Canada to the IACP Women’s Leadership Institute at the Toronto Police College. I am proud to support their ongoing development as future leaders in policing.

We're thrilled to announce our partnership with the Toronto Police Service as we celebrate the IACP’s Training Center at the Toronto Police College. The Women's Leadership Institute kicks off its first IACP class at the Toronto Police College this week. @TorontoPolice

Conversations like these are important and necessary. Today was an opportunity to learn from partners and offer feedback. The Toronto Police Service will continue to be a strong partner in the fight against antisemitism and all hate crimes. Please report any suspected hate crime to police so it can be investigated.
Toronto Police@TorontoPolice

Chief @TPSMyronDemkiw spoke at the National Forum on Combatting Antisemitism in Ottawa today on the urgent need to strengthen our collective efforts to combat antisemitism and all hate. He highlighted the need for a consistent approach and opportunities to strengthen the law, and for additional federal funding to support police training, investigations, and police response to protests in communities disproportionately impacted by geopolitical events. Thank you @Safety_Canada for hosting this conversation.

This week, IACP President Ken Walker attended the @TorontoPolice graduation ceremony where 90 cadets were sworn into policing service. Graduation coincided with the grand opening of the IACP Training Center housed within the Toronto Police College. Thank you to Chief Myron Demkiw for his leadership and the opportunities that lie ahead as a result of this global coordination of the policing profession.

On International Holocaust Remembrance Day, we remember the victims, pay tribute to the survivors, and reflect upon the horrors of the Holocaust. 80 years after the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, we recognize that the fight against antisemitism is not over. We continue to work to ensure the safety of our communities. #HolocaustRemembranceDay #WeRemember
