@Liz5833 @FixingEducation Without a doubt, parents and students are less than truthful. And heaven forbid you ask students to put their cell phone away. But it should be expected that some lesson planning and grading will be done on weekends.

@FixingEducation Fidelity. If all of our students were cookie cutter images of one another, then fidelity would be feasible. They're not. So, it's not.

@FixingEducation Informal observation Just... no. If you're coming in to give me feedback, there's nothing informal about it.

@Solyricon I also found messages one Dec after 7 combined dating/marriage years. I documented & said nothing, keeping peace through the holidays & family time all while planning the exit. I took him to the airport for a late Jan work trip & put the plan in motion. Divorce completed in July.

A girl I know was with her boyfriend for six years. Everyone thought they were solid. Trips together. Family dinners. Future planned. Then one random night she found messages. Nothing dramatic. Just enough to know. He kept saying it was “just talking.” She didn’t scream. Didn’t call him names. She just asked, “Would you be okay if I did the same?” He said, “That’s different.” That’s when she went quiet. A week later she ended it. People kept telling her, “Six years is a lot to throw away.” She said, “Exactly.” Two months later he was publicly with the girl he said not to worry about. She didn’t spiral. She just said she was glad she left before she had to compete.

Good morning, early birds. I will be taking this week off. My mother passed last night. It was not unexpected, but the feeling of loss is still pretty overwhelming. May her memory be eternal.

When a teacher chooses to leave the job, do not rush into filling the position. Rush into fixing the reason they left.

Today, we turn a page in Tulsa's history. For 104 years, the Tulsa Race Massacre has left a wound on the very soul of our city - hampering progress, opportunity, and hope. And while we can't undo the past, we can seek righteousness in this moment. That's why earlier today, I announced the creation of the Greenwood Trust - a private charitable trust that will raise and direct $105 million (raised by this time next year) toward affordable housing, historic preservation, economic development, and education for descendants of the Race Massacre and the residents of Greenwood and North Tulsa. This is not the final step in our road to repair, but it's a start - and a start that brings to bear what we're able to do right now, which is to create an avenue and a funding source for our reconciliation efforts in response to the needs the community has identified over the last several years. Earlier today, I also reaffirmed my commitment to the 1921 Graves Investigation and Genealogy work; and announced the City is releasing more than 45,000 historic records tied to the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre to ensure the truth continues to stay out of the shadows and is put into the hands of Tulsans. Ultimately, this work is rooted in the belief that reconciliation, repair, and renewal are not just ideals - they're actions that we must continue to take if we want to move Tulsa forward. There is much work to do, and this is not the end – but I’m excited at the promise of progress. I invite you to learn more about the Trust, read the historic documentation surrounding the Massacre, and learn more about everything we're doing to unite our community on a path forward at: cityoftulsa.org/RoadToRepair

Today during the city of Tulsa's first Tulsa Race Massacre Observance Day, we reflect on the events of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre that happened 104 years ago, while at the same time looking forward to bringing about additional healing in the years ahead. Today, we express gratitude for those who came before us, for those who have fought for so long for justice and reconciliation, and for those who continue to fight for the values we all share here in Tulsa - opportunity; freedom; justice; and repair. Later today, I will announce what the road ahead may bring and some of the initial steps my administration is taking to achieve further reconciliation and unity within our community. You can join in watching online at theblackwallsttimes.com at 3:30 p.m.

When a state addresses its teacher shortage by lowering the standards to become a teacher, rather than focusing on making teaching a more sustainable and respected career, it signals a HUGE PROBLEM!

My friend who works in a quiet, corporate office told me he relates to my life as a teacher because “we both use computers all day.” So I asked him, “How many tabs do you have open right now?”
He said, “Four.”
FOUR. I have 18 tabs open. We are not the same.

@ryan_bdb @DrBradJohnson Tulsa, OK, here. 1 of the highest paid OK districts. Ts start at $43,500 & won't reach your magical $60,000 until their 23rd year. What I'd like to be able to expect is to be compensated equivalently to other fields that require min 4 yr degree plus certification in my field.

@DrBradJohnson 14 yr educator 👋 Yes, in some locales teachers are paid poorly (mainly rural areas). But not the case many other places. Teachers work appx 9 months total per year. So, say, a $60k salary is the equivalent of $75k Can’t expect to make what others do working 1/4th less 🤷‍♂️
