What happened in Moscow today reinforced a thought I’ve had for some time. Our appetite for taking losses and enduring disruptions is relatively low as a society. A few successful strikes, airport closures, disruptions to daily life, and relentless media coverage could generate so much public pressure that the government’s room for military response starts shrinking. In the drone age, deterrence is not just about the ability to inflict pain. It’s also about the ability to absorb it. Are we ready as a society??
