Know that I say this with total love: what’s wrong with planting palm trees and banana trees in NC is that you’re destroying the natural beauty of this state.
Palm trees are only native to a very small portion of Brunswick county. Banana trees? They’re not native at all.
When I was growing up finding a palm tree? That was like magic. It was an experience that left you breathless.
Today, transplants and developers have planted them all over Wilmington. A place they didn’t exist at all 30 years ago.
You know what’s been lost as a result? Gorgeous live oaks dripping with Spanish moss and miles of longleaf pine forests.
And it’s not just Wilmington that suffers from this invasion. You can find palm trees planted all over the coastal plain - all the way up through Raeford.
They’re a hideous and tacky eyesore that destroys what North Carolina is really supposed to look like and it’s a threat to our natural heritage.
If you want palms… if you want banana trees, move further South. 🙏🏼

Now,now... I'm a HUGE believer in local flora & fauna & am turning my yard into a showcase for all our beautiful local wildlife. That said, I do have 3 banana trees that grow 10 feet tall every year. They're foundation plantings, something unusual & tropical. They don't seed or spread. No one respects our local flora more than me. I'm the go-to for knowing every type of trees here. And even the actual species, not just "maple" or "oak". I have Spicebush, all sorts of Viburnums. I have lots of native orchids & wildflowers. So, what's wrong with a single palm tree or a couple of banana trees? Being creative isn't against being mostly all locally native. Smile & enjoy 😉

This is EXACTLY why parents are taking their kids out of public schools. Kids don't need to be political at 10 years old, they need to learn how to read/write and do math along with science and history. When public schools fail parents they look for different options. SON SELLING RUGS UPDATE: It worked 🚘

This is my son. He is almost 16 and wants a vehicle. I refuse to buy him one and told him he needs to pay for it himself. He got a job as a rec basketball league referee and quickly realized how long it would take to save up enough money to get a $3k car making $12/hour. Then I showed him some cooler $6k options on Bring a Trailer and he got the itch to make more money. I gave him countless ideas to pursue. He wasn't feeling any of them. Then I decided to show him some podcast episodes from @mhp_guy (he's listened to some from Chris before and was a fan). No ideas were really hitting home until he heard an episode between Chris and @ShannonJean about reselling. He fell in love. So I showed him a few more and he was convinced that that was the route he should take. We started browsing B-Stock and then realized we need a state tax license and some other stuff so we got that all set up. Then we browsed some more. Endless deals. We settled on buying 115 rugs at an average of $13/rug after shipping. They're all Costco returns. Various sizes, some in better condition than others. He now has to figure out how to sell all these through my Facebook Marketplace account. I won't be helping him at all, other than answering questions and casually giving him strategic ideas here and there. If he can sell the rugs at an average price of $35 (keep in mind some are brand new and are 10' x 14' large), he'll make $2500 in profit. Then we can start car shopping :). P.S. Chris and Shannon - thanks for the motivation!!!

DOMINATING. Like it should be easy for you. Some of you have never even made all conference talking about getting committed like bro you’re not even the best player in your town. Get real guy there’s gonna be a pissed off D1 transfer dying for your spot that already knows how to do college and you think you’re gonna win because you hit .325 once at a small high school. You better hope somebody does you a favor and tells you the truth before it’s too late. You’re lucky you’re even getting this information for free some of you are getting charged 3k a summer and don’t even get that truth.

That's not what's happening at all, and you keep scapegoating a bill that isn't involved. When North Carolina had winter storms, our overbuilt solar wasn't producing any electricity - zero. So the utilities had to purchase additional coal and natural gas to make up the difference.
Building more solar is only going to make this happen more. #ncpol

On top of a proposed 15% rate hike, Duke Energy is now asking North Carolinians to foot the bill for an additional $800 million in increased fuel costs. I vetoed Senate Bill 266 for exactly this reason: because it would further expose North Carolina ratepayers to volatile fuel markets and shift the cost of electricity from large industrial users onto the backs of regular people, making your utility bills more expensive. Republican legislators knew this too – but still left North Carolinians holding the bag. The Utilities Commission should step in to secure an affordable energy future for North Carolinians. We must do everything we can to make life more affordable for families, not more expensive.
