Quick note on this: Soccer is becoming a major sport in America whether you like it or not. The demographics that matter have all expressed huge interest in soccer and especially the World Cup. They're just young and not all white. Old white people that hate soccer are dying off.

Quick thread on this discourse. I have criticized American soccer fans' attitude that this HAS to become a major sport in America just because the rest of the world likes it. That's silly. Americans have every right to ignore soccer/only care when the World Cup is on.

More people watched the USA vs Paraguay World Cup match on Fox and Telemundo in the United States than any game of the NBA Finals or any UFC match. People have a lot of skewed perceptions it seems.

That’s a great number. It’s also about 7% of the U.S. population.
The poll didn’t say nobody would watch. It found only 13% were very interested and another 17% were somewhat interested. That’s roughly 30% expressing interest and 54% expressing little or none.
A heavily promoted U.S. match drawing 25 million viewers doesn’t exactly blow that poll out of the water.

The dynamic between Henry, Zlatan, and Alexi Lalas is a WILD watch.
Lalas spews awful analysis (always has) but delivers it with the confidence of a great, without the acumen
Zlatan is in a world of his own confidence-wise and Henry clearly has no respect for either of the other’s opinions.
No chemistry, tons of ego, 10/10

@davidpmcintyre @SamMonsonNFL Exactly. People glaze Zlatan because of his banter with Lalas, but he’s genuinely so fucking bad at his job. He never says anything of substance, just the most basic, surface-level observations and he can’t even seem to articulate them properly. Lalas is trash, but so is Zlatan.

@MaxiG277 @onthesportmedia @AriWasserman Also, a notable proportion of these "goals" are lame penalty shots where the goalie has barely a chance to stop the shot. The goalies must guess a side and often jump to the side opposite of where the ball is shot. Pretty lame!
