Ampwifi 3.6 is now rolling out. The volume control dialog has been updated! It now shows the volume percentage and syncs with Winamp in real-time as you slide it. Long-press the mute button to try it out. This release also introduces support for wired network connections.

Bro I'm so sick of pretending this isn't weird. The internet spent 20 years creating tutorials, open-source projects, blog posts & answers for free. AI companies turned all of it into products worth billions. And now the same people who created that knowledge are being told they're replaceable. We built the library. Someone else started charging admission.

If you dropped someone from 1999 into today they wouldn't be particularly lost or shocked. The only jarring exception I can immediately think of is when a Cybertruck drives by. But cars still generally look like cars from 20 years ago, everyday life has not really been transformed apart from smartphones.

If this is the Singularity, it still looks suspiciously 1990s outside. Meaning, if you walk around for an hour in a normal (pick a random) city, nothing jumps out as particularly different or futuristic.

@MichaelVeroukis @alexutopia And I wonder how that hate is going to manifest itself. Do you think all options are on the table now? If you speak for everyone who hates AI you must know or at least have an idea about how far some may go and are you okay with that? Have you rationalized it?

I don't understand game devs hating AI. This is the industry that spent decades chasing bigger worlds, smarter NPCs, and more interactive stories. Now the tools are arriving. And suddenly progress is the enemy? Some people just built their identity around the old bottlenecks.

It feels like we have hit a point where building is mostly for the sake of it or basically pointless. Why bother when the AI can just do it better?

@MateElis4 @beffjezos Nothing can solve impossible problems. AI is not a god. People say stupid things like AI will cure cancer, but is it even curable? Only an idiot would make that assumption.

@beffjezos its agi, then asi, agi only solves generalization and automation, but asi has the ability to solve impossible or difficult problems. they came up with communism because transitioning to intelligence beyond human means most humans have to experience disruption until its finished.

The reason they call me a Nazi is to encourage people to murder me
Brivael Le Pogam@brivael

Norway's legislators have gone completely insane and announced a near-ban on generative AI for students. Ages 6-13: generally banned. Ages 14-16: only under teacher supervision. Ages 17-19: “appropriate use” training. This starts in August. And it’s not happening in isolation. Norway already banned smartphones in schools, is pushing schools back toward physical books, wants fewer tablets, and is planning to ban social media for under-16s. Back to the 1950s we go. The most important technology of their lifetime is arriving, and lawmakers’ first instinct is prohibition. Not literacy. Not curriculum. Not teacher training. Not “how do we make students better thinkers with AI?” Just: ban it. This is an effort of institutional panic that is unenforceable and is doomed to failure.

A growing number of AI engineers are coming to believe that it's a bad thing for humans to remain in control. This is no longer just the successionists, those who actively want robots to wipe out humanity. What is going on in SF is extremely alarming. More and more of the people building the impending cyberdystopia turn out also to loathe our species altogether.

Game development is becoming AI-native. Epic just showed where Unreal is going: LLMs, generative AI, Claude, Codex, and MCP. Not as a gimmick. As infrastructure. If AI-driven game development offends you, there's always basket weaving. Progress is not asking permission.

This should apply to all AI companies. If you build a machine capable of orchestrating cyberattacks, designing bioweapons and chemical weapons, but you can't ensure that it can't be used for doing these things, then it is catastrophically negligent to release it to the public.

JUST IN: The White House is reportedly demanding Anthropic make Fable 5 impossible to jailbreak before rereleasing it, a condition cybersecurity experts say cannot be met by any AI company.

The amount of of code check-ins measured by GitHub in the last 9 months is triple the usual. This in spite of all the layoffs. Remember change is the only constant in life. You either adjust to the reality or get swallowed by it. I am not judging you. I want you to elevate your level of thinking. Good luck!👍

AI’s only proven product is the layoff. They promised cures. Sam Altman: 10 gigawatts and we cure cancer. Hassabis: all disease in a decade. Midjourney: a full-body scanner with zero AI in it, sold as a spa. Cured so far: nothing. But Oracle cut 30,000 and Meta 16,000 to fund the data center and now Indian IT is doomed.

I fear that the current and next generation of Junior developers will be completely unemployable because they are using AI to code. They have 0% will to get past hard problems. This is devastating for the tech industry and will be felt once Boomer, Gen X, and Millenials (educated many years before AI). There will be no thinkers left. Just a bunch of empty minded blank stares.
