I just bought this to ride from Guatemala to Costa Rica with two friends in August. I don’t know how to ride a motorcycle yet. Lessons with my buddy start on Wednesday. Considering calling my 30s my “fuck it, let’s do it” era.

I don't remember where I heard it recently (maybe @angeladuckw on Armchair?) but she said she puts a smiley face in most of her emails because it lets the person know her tone is friendly in an environment where there are no body language cues...and I think that's brilliant.

I'm curious w/ regards to the writing, how many of the more upper echelon writers are still active and seeing good deal flow. Ultimately, surviving as a writer now means being able to drive and consult on strategy. The 'words' bit isn't your differentiator... never really was.

Hey, today's my birthday! This one (54) is special because it means I've spent half my life as an independent. Freelancing has been responsible for all the good things in my life. If you choose this path, I hope the same is true for you.

@kaleighf I have, but it's not my favourite. It is *really* hard to sit down for a 6-7 hour stretch and stay focused. There's a lot of pressure built in there. And also, ouch, my back.
