I'm almost exclusively seeing bad faith arguments against the Steam Machine. This is essentially being sold at production cost plus a $70-90 service fee for convenience of efficiency, form factor and acoustics. It's not an attractive price, but it's a realistic one.

I keep seeing people complain about the price, so I’m throwing in my two cents: I dunno if you knew this, but.. IT IS A PC!! It’s not a console, it’s far more powerful than that, and far cheaper than literally most pre-built gaming PCs. Hecc, it’s about $200 cheaper than what my hand-built was, and that PC’s 7 years old now! Plus, the Steam Machine can literally be used like a PC, which is incredible! So TL;DR It’s a super affordable PC that’s roughly the size of the GameCube (if not smaller), not an overpriced console. If you say otherwise, I’m gonna cry I swear. Also: it not including a controller? Yeah, because it’s a PC and (presumably) assumes you have a mouse and keyboard already and maybe a controller. Don’t have a controller but want to play with one? Go to Goodwill and get a wired Logitech one for like $12, it’ll treat you well I promise. That’s my rant for the year, love y’all 💖🥰

@ace_v3 @JamesTheMuttz I have a feeling if someone is planning on buying this they have a console, in turn means they have a controller and steam supports the big three. Sure you can invest in a PC but you're gonna have to spend a bit more than Steam Machine for a good budget PC

@MinhMan_ @JamesTheMuttz Even if consoles are selling at a loss, how many ppl r willing to instantly shell out a grand & then spend extra on a controller, cheap or not. If ppl r going to do that and not even get a controller with it, might as well invest in a pc at this point imo. That $ pt is daunting.

@ace_v3 @JamesTheMuttz Console are selling at a lost. And even if it doesn’t come with a controller. You can use a controller you already owned. If you don’t own one and budget is an issue there’s a lot of good cheap controllers

@JamesTheMuttz Regardless of it's specs, better or worse than the current consoles withstanding, having to spend over a grand, especially without a controller, is going to be a massive hurdle, a hurdle most ppl aren't willing to climb over. The PS3 and the current consoles should be an example.

@KodakCoyote This is supposed to be treated as a console. If you want a computer, get a computer. I personally am getting one because I don’t believe in paying to play online. The flexibility and freedoms it provides more than justifies the difference in price for me.

No one is demanding anyone to subscribe to Gamepass, PS+ or Nintendo Online... There's no gun on your head nor a requirement to play games. I hate these absolute statements that are false.

@Tahnit @mcquack306 it doesn't, don't compare it as a console because that's not what it is. Vavle is not selling this at a loss, PS and xbox are, and they can do that because of online subscription and exclusive games

I don't know why people act like this isn't long since a solved issue with modern anti cheat. Besides the reason there's no day 1 PC version is purely to make people double dip.

@ligmathong @rinsass I mean the double dip is a valid reason for them to not have a day 1 release on PC. People either have FOMO or they are too excited to wait so they buy on console first then once it releases on pc, people will buy it again
