Day 3: I posted some updates for my classes and for some reason it just hit me hard: I miss them. We might not go back. I don't teach because I love English, I teach because I love them.

@docmitch93 It makes me just want to walk away from it forever. At least I’m retired and involved only as a sub. But I personally know the Superintendent of the district the teacher went to and know heads would roll if the Sup knew.

By a total fluke, I found out a former teacher of mine who was forced to resign in lieu of termination for a rather egregious reason (not the sandwich in the crotch guy) has been employed in a near by school district. I’m furious at how in 2026 we still allow bad public school teachers to continue to get jobs in other districts. There is zero excuse for it. Do I say anything? I’m thinking not.

The best schools don't just have great teachers—they have great teams. One of the strongest indicators of a healthy school culture? Teachers who genuinely want to learn from and support one another.

@FixingEducation My district is generally very purposeful when spending money, but there are definitely a few things that make me scratch my head. Tech is one of them. Overpaying a few folks who don't earn it is another. (NOT teachers -- they earn every cent!) Teachers can't speak up, sadly.

Teachers: Have you ever watched your school district spend money on something and thought: “Who approved this?” What is the biggest waste of taxpayer dollars you’ve seen in education? And should teachers do more to inform the public?

One of the first lessons I learned as a school leader was that I could not personally care for every student each day. The best way to care for students was to invest in and support the teachers and staff who serve them daily. @SteeleThoughts

It's almost May. I have a student I've never met. She's never in school first period. A few weeks ago they shuffled her schedule so I have her later in the day. Still never met her, still on the roster. I've touched base with parents. Today an admin asked me to try and develop a relationship with her.

@sage_stage This is wild. Are there people who DON'T do this??? We all do this, every day.

We have a new attendance incentive this quarter, for teachers. Show up on time every day Monday to Friday, don't leave early, attend the weekly meeting, and a random name or two will get drawn randomly to allow you to leave an hour and a half early on Friday.
