A few days on and although we felt there was a slight improvement on his stability he has since declined, he has of course been back to the vets and has been prescribed medication along with antibiotics for his infected eye. There can be many reasons why people end up with far more animals than they can care for, such as mental health conditions, disability, bereavements, and serious financial issues. These cases are often complex, and the people involved need help and support to get back onto the right path or to access the services they need themselves. This was the case here, when we were contacted by Dogs Trust to help them find rescue spaces for 250-poodle cross dogs being kept in a home by an extremely vulnerable, elderly owner. The numbers and living conditions of the dogs had rapidly spiralled out of control, with help being sought for the dogs once someone discovered how the owner had been living. Situations like these put an immense strain on our resources, and we are incredibly grateful to the fellow charities and public bodies who support us during these complex multi-agency operations. Due to several extremely large-scale rescues like this, we're now facing a capacity crisis. There's never been a more urgent time to adopt. Please retweet, 4 more neglected dogs dumped #CARDIFF #WALES #UK April 2 2026 FOUR BULLDOGS DUMPED IN TERRIBLE CONDITION On Saturday evening last week, four bulldogs were dumped at Cardiff Dogs Home. They were reportedly found tied up by a member of the public, but when put on leads by the kennel staff they were terrified and unable to walk without panicking and choking themselves. We suspect that they have never been on leads or walked outside. We believe that they may be from the same litter, two males and two females, who have been named Jack and Daniel and Pina and Colada. All four of them are suffering from medical conditions that have required vet treatment and need corrective surgery: Jack - cherry eye Daniel - cherry eye Pina - cherry eye, umbilical hernia, skin infection Colada - cleft lip We are lucky to have our onsite Health Centre where our vet will be able to perform the surgeries that these dogs need, but this is still a large unexpected cost. Four stray dogs arriving at once also puts a lot of pressure on the kennel staff at a time where they are already looking after a large number of dogs. On the night that these dogs arrived, the kennels were already at capacity, but space had to be found for them. Two more stray dogs also arrived later that night. To have four dogs arrive in terrible condition at once is a large vet bill for us to cover, but thanks to your support and donations we can continue to fund these life changing surgeries.
