@OutsideTheWires @SydneyLWatson @Skulldrey I know the difference between a deductible and an out of pocket max. The emphasis being on the word MAX. That means it the MOST you have to pay out of your own pocket, not the least before insurance kicks in. And, yes, I did work in health insurance for about a decade. Dumbass.

Seen a lot of conversation about how predatory the American medical system is. So I will weigh in. I ended up going to the ER about 2 weeks ago for crippling pain. Turned out to be a ruptured ovarian cyst. I was there for MAYBE 4 hours. My bill? $13,500 dollars. Because I'm uninsured (by choice, that shit is a SCAM), the hospital dropped my bill down to $8,100 and some change as an "uninsured" discount. For starters, $13,500 for a 4 hour hospital visit is insane as it is. But the fact the hospital can wipe $5,000 off the bill "just because" should show you how utterly fucked this system is. And to be clear - $8,000 is still an absolutely insane sum of money when all these people did was scan my stomach and give me some pain killers. On my itemized bill, my CT scan was 7k. The iodine they used was $900. Just being in the ER room alone was $2,500. We phoned the hospital to haggle. They dropped the price by $20. Normal people can't survive this shit. I do okay and $8,000 is still an INSANE chunk of money out of my savings. Anyone who argues this isn't a disgusting, predatory system is crazy. And it is even crazier that Americans accept this. And for those of you who argue this is the free market, I need you to be quiet. There can never be a true free market here when government and insurance have their creepy little fingers in this pie. People shouldn't go bankrupt trying to pay medical bills. This has to change.

@OutsideTheWires @SydneyLWatson @Skulldrey That's completely wrong. That would be true if you had $20K DEDUCTIBLE. It's $50K, potentially, if everyone racks up bills at exactly the same rate, before insurance covers EVERYTHING beyond that, not "anything."

"You can't judge a book by its cover." I have consistently instructed my kids that this is a harmful lie that should be ignored. You can tell a significant amount about a person, place, or thing just by looking at it.

I had a fascinating discussion with a neurosurgeon today. Malignant narcissists/psychopaths have facial hemisphere asymmetry. The eye and the mouth on one side of the face is slightly smiling while on the other side of the face, the eyes is dark and the mouth is straight. You can see this if you put your hand over one side of their face and then the other side of the face in images of dark personalities. Sometimes it is faint but it is there. Dark personalities know that they have this and often try to disguise it. They may turn their face to the side for a photo or pull their hair across their face. I was interviewed for a podcast last week where I was discussing (afterwards) a female ‘expert’ in the coercive control/domestic violence area who has many red flags for being a dark personality. This podcaster had interviewed her and told me he could not get a good image of her face for publicity purposes because of facial hemisphere asymmetry. It is so interesting. The neurosurgeon I was speaking with today sees a lot of brains and he was saying that you can actually tell by looking at a brain that there’s something off, that it’s not quite right from left to right and also from front to back. There is a lot of current research that shows differences in the amygdala and the prefrontal cortex of the brain of dark personalities but there is so much more work that could be done here.

Had a herniated disc 2 years ago. They gave me some pain killers and told me to go home. 2 hour ER visit was $9,000. The ambulance also charged me $150 for 1 Tylenol. It may be unethical but may I remind you that failure to pay medical bills does not affect your credit score. Just sayin...

@SydneyLWatson @Skulldrey Yep, penalized for being entrepreneurial. I priced marketplace ins toward the end of 2025. 27k/yr in premiums for a family max out of pocket of 20k. That's 50k paid before ins starts to cover anything serious. And ppl wonder why the gimmes for illegals have us so pissed.

Below are the ages of several godly men when they completed their race on this earth: • Charles Spurgeon - 57 • Jim Elliot - 28 • John Knox - 58 • William Tyndale - 42 • Robert Murray M’Cheyne - 29 • Samuel Rutherford - 60 • Jonathan Edwards - 54 • Dietrich Bonhoeffer - 39 • John Owen - 59 • David Brainerd - 29 • John Wycliffe - 54 With many of us men in our 30s, 40s, 50s, and beyond, it's sobering to consider how many men at this point in life had already finished their course with joy. May the Lord teach us to number our days (Psalm 90:12), and help us truly grasp how short life is. May we faithfully serve our Savior with whatever days He has given us.

I don’t want “handmaids tale”, but considering how hard they are coming out swinging, it seems like that’s the reaction they want. You characterize men as monsters long enough, and a lot of men will decide “F it, if we get the label of monster, might as get the benefits of being a monster.”

Checking in on the status of Wokeism, and it turns out Leftist academics are unironically saying that society needs to intentionally “marginalize men” even more to supposedly solve the birth rate. History shows us that what’s normalized in academia becomes publicly mainstream within a generation, and there is no sign the ship is turning or even slowing down.

Something I find absurd about Denver is that there are over 200 THC dispensaries in the city, psilocybin mushrooms are legal (good), but new changes in 2026 banned the sale of flavored nicotine pouches. I was in the city yesterday and forgot about the ordinance until I tried to buy some. Homeless drug addicts roaming around, but at least they can't buy a wild berry Velo pack. Priorities.

After the Spanish Right won the 1933 elections, Communists in Asturias launched a revolution, killing thousands before the army was deployed to finally put an end to the chaos. They did the same thing in Catalonia, and when that too was quelled, they engaged in a low-level terrorist campaign all over the country, planting bombs, sabotaging infrastructure, assassinating newspaper editors and political figures, and staging general strikes all over Spain. They kept doing this until they finally won the 1936 election, at which point the Left went full mask-off and began unleashing thousands of criminals into the streets, ransacking businesses, dragging conservatives out of their homes to beat them, and going into the countryside to expropriate private property. The entire country descended into a state of near-total anarchy in a matter of months. The Left spent years agitating for a Marxist revolution in Spain and refused to obey the legal system because they saw the Spanish Republic as a mechanism to achieve Leftism, not as a neutral system intended to uphold democracy, the constitution, or the rule of law. And thus, any deviation from the march towards Leftism was seen as an illegitimate act of treason and proof of an imminent fascist takeover of the state. As a result, ANY electoral victory by the Right was inherently treated as illegal by the Left, and ANY attempt to actually govern in accordance with Right-wing principles was seen as just cause to engage in violent insurrection. You cannot have a country like this for long. If one side treats the process as illegitimate unless it produces their desired ideological outcome, they will inevitably win unless they're physically stopped.

Now is a good time to familiarize yourself with the prelude to the Spanish Civil War Because if the right doesn’t learn that particular lesson of history very quickly we’re about to repeat it

This is about as close to the absolute truth as you will read on the topic. No effort short of the overwhelming use of armed force has ever stopped a left wing movement after its initial outbreak of revolutionary armed violence. We've had two previous leftist revolutionary movements in the United States. The first was post-WWI when European immigration brought socialist and anarchist violence to our shores. The Palmer Raids of 1919-20 ended with the deportation of 556 (kek) violent socialists and anarchists back to Europe. The FBI went on a rampage and practically destroyed the Socialist Workers Party, Industrial Workers of the World, and Communist Party USA by arresting their members. In short, it was disrupted by a coordinated whole-of-government anti-communist effort. Then you had another iteration of revolutionary leftist violence in the 1960s and early 70s. Again, it was infiltrated and toppled by the mid-1970s, because of programs like COINTELPRO and other federal law enforcement efforts. (Bryan Burrough tells this story in Days of Rage, btw.) So here we are, at the precipice of an incipient third iteration of far left revolution. Were the administration to understand just how serious/late the situation is, I don't think it's too late to stop the movement prior to a Herculean use of force. But if the Trump admin continues to ignore them and lets this thing fester, we will have to deal with the consequences in 2029+. (This is why I constantly criticize the admin's lack of action on this.) Kind of like the saying, "you can vote your way into socialism, but you have to shoot your way out," all of modern history shows: You can disrupt a far left revolution in its early phase, but you have to use armed force to defeat them once they get going. There is no other way.
Charles Haywood@TheWorthyHouse

Unfortunately, the lesson of history is there is ultimately no stopping the Left except with the methods of Franco. The Left, like the Terminator, never stops unless forcibly stopped; for it, any pause in the revolution is impossible. Sorry, I don't make the rules.

@sircalebhammer Blaming a place where people can exchange ideas as opposed to the people themselves seems lazy. I do fuck with most of your logic, but this won’t stop people from congregating with like minded individuals. We’ve naturally done that our whole evolutionary journey.

@AlexStepherylh @pgoings @PeninsulaBoy217 @upstatefederlst Saw the same in Iowa in high school. A couple people would consistently come in on shelf stock day, and buy a whole flat of baby food. Still sealed. All on assistance money. Then sit in the parking lot until they could sell it half price, come right back in and buy liquor.

It is almost impossible to write a law that includes "prepared food" like rotisserie chicken while banning things like McDonald's. That's why there is just a blanket ban on "prepared foods."
Sarah Huckabee Sanders@SarahHuckabee

Hot take: putting hot rotisserie chicken on food stamps is common sense. Arkansas took items like candy and soft drinks off SNAP. Now let’s put healthy, affordable options like hot rotisserie chicken on.
