I've been asked, more than once, when we'll get rid of Putin. The honest answer: dictatorships only change by armed means. Either through violence or the threat of it. The Russian democratic opposition is mostly the educated urban class. The regime knows it and has shown it will kill its own citizens to stay in power — a threshold most people, in any country, would struggle to meet in numbers large enough to matter.
