Trump has been in the situation room all day most likely. As it seems social forces and heavy support strikes are clashing with Iranian forces in an attempted search and rescue mission of the US airman. There were some unconfirmed reports of his extraction, but nothing confirmed yet. He’s been behind enemy lines for 30+ hours, and it seems the US decided they could only operate by nightfall due to the hits on SAR craft sustained yesterday. That’s why this is full firepower tonight. If they fail to extract him by day break, it will be another 8+ hours until another attempt, and they’ve just shown Iran exactly the region he is in. Incredibly harrowing. And whether the US should be there or not, I hope we can get this guy out alive, and focus on finding off-ramps to this conflict. Because if the Iranian’s manage to take him POW, it is undeniable that Trump will up the violence to save face.
