@P07D17C @JackPosobiec You're right. It beat The Phantom Menace which opened to $65 million in 1999.
English

@_oRyca_ @JackPosobiec Depends on how much you spent on it. This movie has a long way to go to break even.
English

@JackPosobiec 81 million opening day is a pretty solid success.
Was a good movie too.
English

It's going to need a lot more than $350 mil to break even. $165 million was the production budget for *California Qualified Expenses*
That doesnt include the budget for the producers, directors, actors (excluding extras) writers, composers and supervisors. All in this movie probably cost close to $200 million....offset some by tax credits.
Throw in another 100 million for marketing.

English

@JackPosobiec True however it had only a budget of 135 million. It's opening weekend made 165 million. By the time it's done it run it'll hit 345 million. Which is where this particular movie needs to hit anyways

Just throwing this out there. Its a good idea to wait at least 5 days (I typically wait 7) after introducing a new queen to a hive before opening them up.
It's very common for the workers to ball and kill a new queen if you disturb them before they have fully accepted her.
I'm looking forward to hearing what you think about the Golden West queens. I've been to a couple of lectures given by Randy Oliver and he sounds like he's got his queens dialed in.

@Gen_Ben_Mac A weber smokey mountain is a very underrated option.
Add a pit controller (like a Fireboss) and its as easy as a pellet cooker with better smoke flavor.
English

@NatureUnedited This is not true. These are male Sulcata tortoises engaging in normal territorial pushing behavior common in their species. The story about a “120-year grudge over stolen food” is a fabricated meme added for clicks and views — it has no confirmation from the zoo.
English

Beekeeping is *tough*. Harder than I imagined it would be.
My first year I lost both of my hives.
My second year I expanded...and lost 2 of 3.
I haven't lost one in winter since. 4 straight years of 0% losses (avg 8 hives).
I don't intend it as a brag. My son got to see all my failures. Now he sees my successes. I hope he learned something from it.

@Obs_Dave @WallStreetApes When you are living on disability payments, every day is the weekend.
English

@WallStreetApes Who has time for this stupid shit? I mean even if you're insane, how do you make time for it?

This is 100% real
Camp Crinkle at Zesty Cheese Ranch in Goldfield, Nevada has been created for the babyfur community in a historic ghost town
Participants roleplay as younger babies, animal characters, they all wear ‘crinkly diapers,’ onesies and other age-play gear
Furries participate so they consider themselves as “pet play” as well
Where is the FBI? This guy and every person in this club need to have their hard drives checked
“Camp Crinkles, sort of this camp where everyone is crinkly, everyone's wearing diapers”
Also, why are we allowing this to be normalized and practiced? This is not what we want in a society

@AnonSuz @OldHollowTree Most people inspect every couple of weeks through most of the year. You'll need to inspect every week or so in swarm season.
English

@RackOps81 @OldHollowTree Can you leave it for a month and it’ll be ok or is it a daily thing? I want to camp/ travel to some places but don’t want to kill a bee hive while doing it.

@urbanarson @remarks The GOP already voted for Mitch's replacement tonight. Massie is gonna have to wait 6 years at least.
English

@remarks Massie gonna win senate race when turtle Mitch croaks.

@ChrisWiest11 What is leading you to believe that >65 support Galrein and <65 support Massie? Is it a gut feeling? You talked to others in line while waiting to vote? You did exit interviews? Genuinely curious bc the media is all over the board with this and I don't know what to believe.
English

I live in KY-4. I voted this morning in the primary. So did my wife and 17 year old son (who will turn 18 before November). Generally, people voting in this primary under age 65 are supporting Thomas Massie. Generally, people 65 and over are voting for Ed Galrein. The race will come down to which demographic turns out compared to expectations.
Higher turnout typically does not favor incumbents. I’m not sure that is true here — higher turnout will depend on which age demographic turns out.
English

@AnonSuz @OldHollowTree Beekeeping is more difficult than people realize. Most quit within a few years.
It's also more expensive than you'd think.
But if you get hooked, you'll love it.
English

@OldHollowTree Is it hard to have a bee hive? Do I have to mess with it a lot?
English

I've hesitated to comment because I always hated when internet randos tell me I'm wrong about something I'm trying to describe, but that looks more built out than a queen cup. That looks like a queen cell to me, and the position suggests supercedure.
You'll know for sure in a couple of days.

Shortly before Aaron Bushnell self immolated at the Israeli embassy, his therapist had reported that he was depressed and at a mild to moderate risk of suicide. This was all found to be the case by the Air Force investigator. But in likely an attempt to take away the $500k death benefits Aaron left to his brother, a senior leader overturned the Air Force investigating officer’s conclusion that Aaron Bushnell’s final act was brought on by psychiatric problems.
“Instead, the commander wrote, Bushnell’s death was due to his own “misconduct” and “Not In the Line of Duty,” a rare reversal of an investigating officer’s findings.
Under Air Force regulations, investigators must maintain “a strong presumption” that suicides are “In the Line of Duty,” a classification that can have consequences for death benefits. However, Col. Celina Noyes said the guidance could be overcome in this case. “SrA Bushnell’s statements and actions indicate that he understood the ramifications of his conduct,” Noyes wrote in her finding.”

TIME’s new cover: ‘The Odyssey’ is arguably the biggest film of Christopher Nolan’s career. It may also be the summer blockbuster the entertainment industry needs right now time.com/article/2026/0…

@raymondgstanley @ok_post_guy I believe everyone has the right totheir own name.
That being said, Elliot Page is a mutilated woman and a comically bad choice to be Achilles.
English

There's no reason whatsoever to dead name Elliot Page. He's been working under that name for like a decade, including some big budget stuff
Polymarket@Polymarket
NEW: Elliot Page, formerly Ellen Page, rumored to play legendary Greek warrior Achilles in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey.

@rossiadam Thank you for posting this. I have 10 hives now and beekeeping has definitely changed my life for the better.
English

Its like every other hobby. The spending can be minimal or it can be a lot. If you are buying everything:
Hive kit: about $200
Bees: about $150
All the other stuff/tools/suits will add up too. Figure about $500 to start with 1 hive. About $800 to start with two.
You'll want to inspect between every 1-2 weeks. Maybe half an hour per hive.
English

@rossiadam What's the startup cost for a colony - or the minimum foe it to be worth it? Do they have to be tended to daily?
A late uncle had his wiped out by a bear, twice. But his hives were on a farm he went to daily but didn't live there.
