Oh. We no longer hold Ministers accountable for tender irregularities, it’s DGs now? Damn all those Ministers through the years owed apologies for “heads must roll,” “fire him/her,” “x must fall”, court cases, marches, speeches etc. What a time to be alive.

I understand that our political system is fundamentally different. But every South African politician seeking to serve their constituency should follow @ZohranKMamdani mayoral journey closely. There is a lot to glean here.

@Tessa_Dooms Pity that in South Africa, political illiteracy eats ideology for lunch.

Mamdani here explaining 2 local government laws and how he has made decisions. He campaigned with his ideology upfront (including on Palestine) here you can hear how he is using his ideology to govern NYC. A reminder why ideology matters even on local government issues.

Open Letter to @GCISMedia & @GovernmentZA We are quick to criticise our ministerial social media accounts, but often with good reason, and I include myself in that number. But we frequently forget the human beings managing the keyboards on the other side. These are civil servants operating under pressure, without adequate tools, and without the institutional frameworks that professional communications demands. Empathy, however, must never become an excuse for mediocrity. When I examine our national digital channels through the lens of STEM and digital transformation, what I see is not a talent problem. It is a systems failure. Fundamental errors are slipping through channels that represent this country to the world. Not occasionally. Routinely. This tells me that we're entrusting internet-facing, globally visible communications to teams that have never been given rigorous verification or validation frameworks to work with. We have deployed people without deploying the systems that make people effective. Please take into account what is at stake here. Every post published under a government handle is a permanent digital footprint. It is indexed, archived, screenshotted (like one in this post), and circulated. It is South Africa's voice not only to our citizens, but also to investors, diplomats, and global institutions whose perceptions of us shape capital flows, trade negotiations, and our seat at international tables. We cannot afford to treat that voice as an afterthought. Gulf states do not manage their sovereign oil infrastructure with improvised processes. They build institutions, protocols, and governance frameworks around their most strategic assets. Our national digital presence is no less strategic. However, it would seem to me that it is being managed like a side project. As a citizen and digital transformation scholar, I'm certainly not calling for heads to roll. I am calling for leadership to treat our public sector digital communications strategy with the rigour, resourcing, and architectural thinking it demands. Build the editorial governance frameworks. Establish verification protocols. Invest in people and systems together, because one without the other will keep producing the same results. Our online presence must reflect the true capability and dignity of this nation. We are better than what our digital channels currently show. @dstigovza | @HigherEduGovZA | @DOJCD_ZA | @SAPoliceService | @CommsZA | @sitasocltd | @CSIR | @tiaorgza | @PresidencyZA | @CrimeWatch_RSA | @the_dtic

Coloured South Africans were 'not white enough for apartheid, not black enough for democracy'. Ismail Joosub from the FW de Klerk Foundation believes the community has been systematically neglected. want South Africa to work! That said, we cannot as a country allow regional instability and poor governance to continue unchallenged through diplomacy. Immigrants would never have left if their countries worked for them. They are not the first to flee dysfunction for “better”
