@dandinohill Probably what will happen. It appears neighboring countries are now eager to be done with Iran’s Fanatical leadership as well. If a true regime change isn’t possible then treat it as a weed or pest problem. Monitor and spray as needed.

Here is my take on the war against Iran. Just my views, and I welcome those with a different take, or more knowledge to contribute their thoughts. Here goes: 1. Iran is big country with 93 million people and a very large and diverse land mass. So far we have spent about a month bombing from the air and have degraded their nuclear capabilities and their weapons stockpiles. But a ground invasion could lead to a tremendous loss of life on both sides and end up with the USA in another Vietnam or Afghanistan style quagmire that will drain our blood and treasure even further. 2. While the regime (original leaders were taken out - but new leaders replacing them are similar) in Iran is unpopular, continuing the war is not likely to result in real regime change. When being bombed by another country, people tend to rally around their own leaders - no matter how much they despise them. 3. As Trump says, the Europeans have not behaved like true friends, denying the US use of bases, and in some cases, not even allowing us to fly over their airspace for military operations. It has been an eye-opener. 4. I think it is time to wind down our operations and involvement in this war. The US is a net exporter of oil and gas, and we do not need the Strait of Hormuz re-opened in the same way that the European nations do. Since the Europeans have not "had our backs" and need the oil from the region much more than we do, Trump's idea of letting them deal with the Iranians to get the Straight reopened seems like not a bad idea. 5. In this type of messy war - there is no clean victory available - and it probably best to be satisfied that their ability to develop nuclear weapons has been set back by a number of years. Time to wind down, wrap up - and exit. I am not a military expert, and these are just my opinions. Your thoughts?
