There isn’t a single normal person in the @Natrebirthparty. It’s entirely comprised of perverts and retards.

@ShippersUnbound @patrickkmaguire Maybe you should read below the line of the article to see that there are a fair number of people who really don't like the personal attacks in the piece. It is devastating in that it says far more about the author than it does about Starmer, and none of it good.

@GregisinLondon @Birdyword While I too am tempted by that vision, the reality is that it would have simply meant going into the Covid/Ukraine crisis with debt to GDP at 110% rather than c. 85% - am our sky high debt interest payments now would be even more crippling?

@Birdyword This country is completely backwards. Imagine a Labour-led anti-austerity coalition in the 2010s, and Cameron-Osborne style government in the 2020s

You have to find the grim humour in the fact that Labour was reelected to a massive majority in 2024, led by a generation of politicians with one central and shared critique of the previous 15yrs of economic policy, very shortly after the relevance of the critique collapsed
Matthew Zeitlin@MattZeitlin

Beyond anything about Starmer per se the big problem for any British government seems to be that post Truss, the fiscal constraints really are binding which will frustrate whoever suceeds him

@Laocailarry @Will___lloyd @RianCFFWhitton Bingo - what X isn’t getting is we’re in an intense period of frantic realignment, it’s qualitatively different to normal politics. C.80% of the electorate is in play, not 10% like normal. Tories will not have a chair when the music stops.

@headspaceman @Will___lloyd @RianCFFWhitton Where are the constituencies? Where is the voter coalition? Where is the evidence she can recover the Red Wall, hold the Blue Wall, beat Reform on the right, and appeal beyond the upper-middle-class and Pensioner Tory comfort zone.

@echetus Important to remember the people DS was making those jokes for, his constituents, were basically the crowd in Phoenix Nights.

Britain's economy was stagnant for over ten years before we left, the idea that Rejoin offers a way out of difficult decisions and return to easy growth is pure displacement activity.
Ben Judah@b_judah

The economy sick and the left split, Labour is set to lose the next election. There is only one lever left to pull. I argue in @TheTimes at the next election Labour must campaign to Rejoin. Voters are there: 59% polled this week are ready to return. thetimes.com/uk/politics/ar…

This photo is incredible. A rain-soaked defeated Liberal MP walking along trash filled streets with the pride flag flying in the distance as he grapples with the consequences of his own party’s decisions.

NEW: “I don’t know,” says Nate Erskine-Smith, when I asked if he thought the nomination process in Scarborough Southwest was fair. Erskine-Smith had promised to speak with us. Instead, his team tried to slip him out — and we ended up scrumming with him in the rain.

As one of the chroniclers of Brexit, I am truly inspired by the lengths Nick Clegg, Ben Judah and others are going to in order to get me to write a fifth book. They can't actually believe they would win a Rejoin referendum, can they?

I noted some years ago that Bradford has roughly the same White British percentage as Tower Hamlets (entirely politically dominated by a Sylheti patronage network) has Sylheti residents, and that if White Bradfordians developed the same sense of solidarity they could clean up
