@pdram @DOGE That's incorrect. If you contract with a Federal entity, the contract language always has an out. ALWAYS

@DOGE I have a question…so all these contracts that are being canceled…isn’t there some sort of penalty for that? Normally, contracts can’t just be ripped up/canceled just because one party doesn’t like the contract anymore?

@GabeZZOZZ they sure are, with all that stolen IP and counterfeit products. Sure are tech wonders, eh? Then their products fall apart, don't work right, or are more Chinese than others. So yeah, huge tech advances that all, ALL came from the US

@MrEncouragement @HumbleFlow No, you are dead wrong. Refrigerators still run the same temp, washer use less water, which means less weight or in your terms, less wear and tear. Sorry your point is invalid

@HumbleFlow In the 80’s — I was there, I know — they were saying “They don’t make things like they used to, back in the 50’s.” Now appliances are far more energy efficient and cost much less to run. The difference is that we are using them more and harder than before.

My grandpa has had the same washing machine since the 80s. It still works. He’s never had to replace it. Meanwhile, I have to buy a new one every five years. It’s not just washing machines. It’s everything. Fridges, dishwashers, phones. We used to build things to last. Now we build things to sell. If they don’t last, what’s the point? I just want a washing machine that works for 40 years. Is that too much to ask?

Do you seriously believe we're the bad guys here? Look at communist China—their government oppresses its own citizens, their economy’s collapsing, they unleashed Covid on the world, and they rip off our intellectual property. And yet, somehow, you think we’re the ones at fault?"

104% tariffs on China are going into effect at 12:01 AM the White House says. Think about how many goods you buy which are manufactured in and shipped from China. Think about how many goods you buy which have components and ingredients which are manufactured in and shipped from China.

When the government increases control over the flow of resources in an economy, that’s socialism In other words, National Socialism I wonder if anyone has come up with a shorter word to blend both together….

@IsabeauVidal @APompliano @grok If the US and China agree to a true free trade deal, with zero tariffs, zero barriers, no currency manipulation, hitch country stands to win here in terms of trade between the two? which stands to increase their exports, basically and why?

The countries that offer the following will get trade deals done quickly: 1. Remove all tariffs against the US 2. Remove all trade barriers 3. Commit to buying American goods 4. Commit to investing in American manufacturing Taiwan has offered this. Others will follow. If we can get these concessions, this would be a boom for America.

@IsabeauVidal @APompliano Um, vehicles as an example? You have a seriously f'd up view on global markets. You also have no idea what the US exports as its most valuable product. Your silly statement is evidence of that. Hint, hint, it's our Intellectual property, aka our technology and capabilities.

“Commit to buying American goods”?? Ok, so… how!? Should countries force their citizens to buy American products or something? 🤷‍♀️ Europe and Japan don’t buy American pickup trucks (e.g.) because they’re not fit for their markets. If the US wants to sell more stuff to other countries, it needs to a) make things they *want* to buy at b) a price they can afford.

Department of Government Efficiency
This week, @Interior is dissolving the Federal Consulting Group (FCG), where one government department charges another to broker consulting contracts. As an example, FCG brokered a $75M contract to design website customer satisfaction surveys, and then attempted to award $830M to conduct similar surveys. The latter contract was discovered by @Interior and DOGE, and cancelled before signature. Example of the work product:

@SaraKraus44 @SenSchumer you should probably get your facts straight, it is far more than 8% of our population that own stocks. If you have a 401K, which is a bit over 40% of the working American Public, those 401K funds are sitting in stocks and market derivatives.

@SenSchumer Question, @SenSchumer, buy “hitting families “are you referring to the 8% of Americans that own stocks, which will eventually increase again or are you referring to corporations paying more tax, isn’t it something you have been talking about wanting for 20 years? HIPPOCRIT!
