I am not some ideologue. I think sensible *and* compassionate policies are needed when it comes to trans issues in sports & especially prisons. But this breaks my heart. A 10 year old kid is being told they can’t be a part of their youth organization anymore? Wtf are we doing??

Perhaps you could ask what my actual opinion is (as a trans woman) on those issues before you go and f*ck my sensibility? I believe that an actual trans woman (someone who had transitioned before committing a crime) *should* be allowed to be housed in a women’s prison. And there should be an avenue for someone who’s in prison for a non-SA-related crime to transition while in prison and be allowed to transfer eventually, after careful consideration (I’d suggest to offer them SRS, and then we’ll know soon enough who’s for real). I will also note though that *actual trans women already in prison* preferred a protected LGBT unit rather than a transfer, so there’s that… What *shouldn’t* be allowed though is for a person who committed rape or sexual assault, and who now suddenly “discovers” they are trans after having been arrested or convicted, to be allowed to transfer to a women’s prison under *any* circumstances. That is madness, cruel & dangerous to all the women (potentially including TW) already in that prison, and simply indefensible. Insane but real-life examples like that are part of what caused this backlash, and why actual TW are now suffering in men’s prisons. As for sports: if you’ve gone through a testosterone driven puberty then there *will* be a lingering advantage even after years of HRT, especially if you were already a high level athlete prior to transition, and imo you shouldn’t compete in elite women’s competitions. This doesn’t mean we can’t play sports! Go for a run, or a game of pick-up basketball or football (soccer) in the park, play tennis with friends, etc! Or join a trans-friendly recreational league (which should be allowed to set their own policies in this regard). But when it comes to medals, prize money & scholarships it just isn’t fair, and again this is painfully obvious to the general public and a big part of the reason for the backlash. Also, the number of trans women this benefits is vanishingly small. We are squandering goodwill by insisting on dying on this hill, and the issue is mostly lost already anyways, given newer policies by e.g. world athletics (no male puberty, which imo is the correct one and would still allow for a trans girl who is lucky enough to avoid that puberty to compete later on) or the IOC (which unfortunately likely excludes trans women entirely, although it will mostly affect intersex athletes, some of whom likely might not be aware of their status, imo) So, there you go. If you still think my sensibility should get f*cked then be my guest. It’s got a submissive streak anyways… 😈

Today's ruling by the IOC means a welcome return to fair sport for women and girls, but I'll never forget the scandal of Paris 2024, when people who consider themselves supremely virtuous and progressive publicly cheered on men punching women.

IOC policy permits athletes with DSDs “who do not benefit from the anabolic and/or performance-enhancing effects of testosterone”, not just CAIS. Point remains that the people affected are mostly cïs women who were born and raised as girls. There’s only ever been a single trans woman in the Olympics. And fwiw, I agree that someone who went through a testosterone driven puberty likely has a remaining unfair advantage that doesn’t fully disappear even after HRT, and therefore shouldn’t compete.

I don’t think the sports world is ready for how many unexpected positive tests they are going to find if every athlete is tested. Especially anxious to see how this plays out in sports like women’s basketball, where genetic gender testing isn’t done If they are truly going to do genetic testing on every female athlete, guaranteed there will be unexpected positives that will have a major life impact in the athlete who may have had no idea.
