Jacinda Ardern admits to having suffered from "Imposter Syndrome" for the whole time she was PM of New Zealand. She made the admission to an audience of fawning students and staff at the Harvard John F Kennedy forum a few days ago. She suggests to the audience that if they ever find themselves consumed by self doubt they should think of her for inspiration. Frankly, I don't think it was any kind of syndrome. She was right to doubt her competence as Prime Minister. She saw herself as out of her depth because she truly was out of her depth, and in spite of the tales she told the clapping seal Harvard audience about her roaring success in the role, she was in actuality probably the most incompetent PM in NZ's history. @nzlabour @NZNationalParty @actparty @nzfirst #nzpol

@Rolly50Hundred Well spotted. The clips are from a TV series "Licence to Drill" which purports to show how a safety conscious drilling crew from Canada adapts to the "laid back" style of drilling contractors in Lousiana.

@TheRedbaiter Lol. Drilling in NZ and Aus is not like this because we have strict safety protocols. Maybe the tiny remote companies are a bit dodgy 🤷‍♂️ No disrespect. However, your point is still 100% valid. NZ and Aus can be energy self sufficient. Drill baby drill!

Many of you probably won't know what you're looking at in this video but its a set of clips showing the tasks men perform daily on oil drilling rigs. If you've worked on rigs you'll know. These men work 24 hours a day in two 12 hour shifts, through snow & heat & rain & wind. Until the well is completed as a producer or abandoned as a duster. Spare a thought too for the smaller exploration companies out there. Most of them know too well the anguish of pooling their resources to finance a $10 million on shore exploration well only to have it come up dry. The rate of success in oil well drilling is generally accepted to be one success to eight failures. Those who take such enormous risks deserve reward. Oil is the foundation of our economies & our societies & when we grow short of it, we all pay. The more oil the better our economies function. The more oil discovered, the cheaper it becomes. NZ First's Shane Jones is championing oil drilling and anyone in any party who does this deserves our support. Like it or not, oil is life. (PS: don't play the clip if you don't like loud rock music)

The partnership between far left and Islamists is the greatest ever threat to Western Civilisation. Tragically, the far left are too stupid to understand that if the Islamists take over, they’ll be the first ones they come after.
Mark Rowley@MarkWRowley

SOCIALISTS THINK THEY'RE USING ISLAMISTS TO SPREAD SOCIALISM - BUT IN REALITY ISLAMISTS ARE USING THEM FOR ISLAMIC EXPANSION Many on the political left believe they can ally with Islamist movements to gain power. History shows the exact opposite: those alliances rarely end the way they expect. Consider Iran in 1979: Several leftist and Marxist-oriented guerrilla groups helped to overthrow the Shah and celebrated the revolution. Key leftist groups involved: * People's Mujahedin of Iran (MEK / PMOI): Founded as a left-wing, Islamist-Marxist group, they were a powerful force opposing the Shah through bombings and armed struggle. * Organisation of Iranian People's Fedai Guerrillas (OIPFG/Feda'i): A major Marxist-Leninist guerrilla organization actively fighting the regime from 1971 to 1979. * Tudeh Party of Iran: The traditional communist party that, while less involved in initial armed struggle, supported the revolution. * Organisation of Struggle for the Emancipation of the Working Class: Another Marxist group active in the revolutionary street fighting. These groups participated in a broad, yet fragile, coalition with Islamist followers of Ayatollah Khomeini to overthrow Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi. However, after the revolution, these leftist groups were quickly suppressed by the new Islamic Republic. Within months, many were imprisoned, executed, or pushed aside once the Islamist regime consolidated power. It is a pattern seen repeatedly: temporary alliances between secular revolutionary movements and political Islam tend to collapse once power is secured. Today, similar debates are emerging in parts of Europe, particularly in the UK, about political strategy, demographic change, and ideological alliances. Whether one agrees or disagrees with those concerns, history shows that movements with fundamentally different end goals rarely remain partners for long. The lesson is simple: Before forming political alliances, it is worth asking whether the long-term objectives are truly compatible. History is full of warnings for those willing to learn and heed them.

@connan_james @PeterSweden7 I kept this review of the 1971 book "The New Totalitarians" because it seemed to accurately describe not just Sweden, but the political trajectory of every western society.

@AnnaSHarper When smart women don't breed, it diminishes the gene pool because we're denied the benefit of their offspring. How much of an effect does the low birth rate have on the current dearth of good ideas?

Auckland Mayor Wayne Brown made a good point in his Ryan Bridge interview today- We are witnessing the steady decades long decline of New Zealand. No govt has had any real ideas on how to stop this decline, they've merely managed it better or worse. So where are the ideas?

If you're a fan of Ayn Rand that's good, but she's never been the first or the last word on liberty. Many people wrote comprehensively on the subject far before, and Alexis de Tocqueville is one such writer. This thread is IMHO a good read if you're interested in such issues.

A man who spent less than a year in America understood it better than most people born here. He wrote down how it could slowly fall apart. We may be watching it unfold right now. 🧵

ROWAN DEAN | "We had it all. We had a great country." We had solid and reliable leadership. We had a great economy. We were respected and admired around the world. We called it as we saw it. We were loyal to our allies and our friends. We laughed and had fun. We made great music and great films. We dominated on the sports field. We made good use of the abundance of natural resources this land is blessed with, to further the opportunities for every one of us to enjoy the good Aussie life. Most of us didn’t give a rats about political correctness and all the pathetic fads of the hand-wringing lefty crowd. We threw it all away. And today we are paying a very heavy price. Paying the price for the vanity and treacheries of a lesser breed of politicians from both sides of the political divide who put their own personal egos and personal enrichment ahead of their sworn duty to serve the people of this nation. And now we are led by donkeys and cowards. Article | spectator.com.au/2026/03/the-30…

We looked towards europe for ideas and globalism to make us rich. We thought cheap foreign labor was a panacea and that extortionate rent and housing reflected economic strength. We made our families pay for education believing in the smoke and mirrors of academia. In other words we were dumb fuxs, ...again.
