11/11/88 Texas vs Tenn The SST sub for the no show Lawler & Valiant. Cox subs for injured Kev. The end saw the SST turn on their partners leading to Kerry saving Jarrett & Marlin. A bandaged Kevin also does a run in at the end.

@HappHazzard @tripleaxehandle @RobViper This match wasn’t in front of a larger audience it was a small box on the TV Guide channel. It fat shamed Yoko and was a slip on a banana peel loss. It wasn’t elevating anyone, just taking Yoko even further down the card.

@tripleaxehandle @RobViper This was fine, it gave Austin a big win over a former long-term WWF champion (their longest reigning heel champion EVER to that point) in front of a much larger audience than watched the PPV. And then he went on to face Bret at Survivor Series, a Rumble win and onto greatness.

The revised history of Austin 3:16 is certainly something. I remember downloading a .wav file (!!!) of the famous promo, playing it over & over again. I do not remember Austin immediately having a rocket strapped to him & becoming an instant main eventer. 😄 The opposite.
