@DarkoTo56635877 @UnityCodeMonkey What is even less known is that on domain reload (e.g. reimporting an script in runtime) neither Awake nor Start are called, and also all non-serialized fields are reset to null. A correct reference: x.com/VehiclePhysics…

@UnityCodeMonkey What also most Unity beginners don't know is that OnEnable() is called before Start() method. Worth knowing this. Good video btw!

This ONE simple rule helps avoid so many Unity issues!

@UnityCodeMonkey I disagree. That rule won't work on domain reload (for example when you change some code & reload in runtime), as neither Awake nor Start won't be called again, and all non-serialized fields will be reset to null. Here's a proper reference: x.com/VehiclePhysics…

@LandfulMinds Yes. Companies often request me to configure the physics simulation in their cars. They provide the 3D model and the specs, and I deliver a car prefab with Vehicle Physics Pro configured and tested according to those specs.

@Wassimulator I installed Windows 11 Enterprise LTSC 2024 on my newest laptop. It comes with zero bloatware, no Copilot/Cortana/AI, and only receives security updates. No new features or experimental "latest" stuff ever. To me, currently this is the only way to work reliably on Windows 11.

Windows 11 just decided to disable sleep as a feature on my laptop. All Microsoft had to do was just STOP updating their OS and let people work in peace. I can't wait until we all reliably can move to something else.

@LandfulMinds Our pleasure! :) BTW, we're in the process of upgrading EVP to URP to remove those ugly tire marks ;)

Do you also dislike how Unity's WheelCollider only casts 1 center ray, so cars jump on every tiny bump? Did you also see 3rd-party assets doing like 16 rays per wheel and thought maybe it's kinda expensive? Did you know that PhysX can actually sweep convex shapes instead of rays?

@CH71ST0 Not to my knowledge. AFAIK the interest in exposing this is still zero.

1- Yes 2- Yes 3- Hell, yes. I’ve been requesting this feature (available in PhysX since 2016) since 2018 at least. Why the Unity Physics team has zero interest in simply exposing it is beyond my comprehension. discussions.unity.com/t/my-top-three…

I've found that multiple raycasts is the best solution for simulating a flexible tire. In this case you want many contact points with their contact lengths. A sweep provides the closest contact point only, which is much better than a single raycast, but it's still limited to a single contact.

@Meetem4 @guycalledfrank @styrbo_ @VehiclePhysics It "works" but it certainly doesn't have the resolution of your sweeping solution, and if the performance is good, or it's hz can be adjusted for perf, that'd be great. Otherwise i'm moving to 0, 30, 60 and 90 spherecasts to get better resolution and pray for no misses😂

@TokyoWarfare The feature has always been there, yes. As for what he tells, it requires a binary patch of the Unity runtime, so they can hook into the DLL calls.
