PD Jinx & RPD Duke 💙💙

We have a very important ‘Save the Date’ - and you are all welcome. On the 10th May, by kind invitation of the Dean of Gloucester, and to celebrate our 4th birthday, we are holding a Special Service at @GlosCathedral to celebrate our service animals, both working and retired. Handlers and families, owners, trainers, breeders, in fact ANYONE who has a love for our extraordinary dogs and horses who do so much for us, such as members of @AssociationRPDs and @tiredpawshmpdog - you are all welcome. To those who support us, and the many other areas of this community, you are all welcome. Better still, The Dean has invited the animals to be there too. Because this is for them. More details to follow - but here is the save the date. We will be reaching out to as many as we can, but we are so excited to celebrate our beautiful, loyal, and hardworking service animals, in whatever guise that may be. Pop it in your diary now - we will keep you posted!

The post I never wanted to do. I’m devastated to say that my boy RPD Stark passed away in my arms on Sunday 7th December following a sudden illness. Michelle and I are absolutely heartbroken. It has come as a massive shock. We miss him dearly, sleep tight brave boy 💔🌈🐾😥😥

ANNOUNCEMENT Sadly, the lovely Big Bark weekend, due to take place this coming Saturday and Sunday at @CirencesterPark has been postponed today, due to rising temperatures at the weekend. The decision has not been taken lightly, but is completely with the welfare of the dogs in mind - it’s simply too hot. All tickets will be honoured for the new dates - 18th and 19th of October - and we look forward to seeing you all then. The hardest part of having an amazing partner is saying goodbye. We've recently laid RPD Timor to rest & being heartbroken would be an understatement. We’d like to thank @RailDogsFund @WMerciaPolice kennel staff who have supported Timor through his working & retired life. RIP Lad

A further update on RPD Coty from @KPTacOps and @kent_police as we are SO exited. Lisa sent us a video last night to celebrate her FIRST five minute, very controlled, careful walk. The first video is before the surgery. The second video is yesterday. How wonderful is this progress? She still has a long way to go to build up her strength with physio and hydro - but we’d say she is already so much better. Thank you all again for your fantastic support. You made this possible. Coty Update. We wanted to give you an update from RPD Coty of @kent_police who thanks to you, received lifesaving spinal surgery 10 days ago. She is getting much better. Her coordination improves by the day, and her pain is reducing slowly. Lisa says she’s ‘getting bored’ - we’re delighted with that as it means she is getting back to her old self! She doesn’t let Mum out of her sight, has had her staples out now, and wants to do more. We have paid her vets fees in full - just under £14,000. This means we have some left over for Coty’s rehab and physio. This is ALL thanks to you. Your donations went to Coty, or will. No overheads or admin costs - just straight to our girl from @KPTacOps We are all incredibly grateful, and humbled by the support and love. We’ll update soon - but we couldn’t be more grateful. And we know Lisa and Mark feel exactly the same. 💜

I have, to my astonishment, turned 60 today. I can’t quite believe I’m SIXTY.. Not sure how that happened… But as in my head I’m still about 25, I shall regard it as a number and simply enjoy the experience. I look back on the past 6 decades, and so many happy memories, with wonder. As in any life-cycles, there have been ups and downs, but mostly ups, & I appreciate it all. Thank you to the many of you who have shared this crazy journey we call life - and for making it all the richer by being in it - both off and online. 💜 As you’ll probably guess, my absolute proudest achievement is @The_NFRSA - together, with you all here, and the most extraordinary team of unbelievably hard-working friends, family, and supporters from across the globe, we have built something meaningful & amazing - and it means the absolute world to our retired service animals, and to me, that so many have believed in the mission about which I feel so passionate. Please will you all send a little prayer to our old friend RPD Tia from @WYPDogs who is sadly going to be leaving us for rainbow bridge today. Tia served with @WestYorksPolice and retired to her handler Duncan Matthews, who also runs @FiresideK9 - and who we consider a colleague and have a close friendship with. We’ve met Tia and she was an absolute poppet, and while she’s not a formal member of the NFRSA family, she’s still our friend and we are all thinking of Duncan and his family today as they say a final goodbye. Safe travels on to your next adventure dear Tia, it was a privilege to have met you. Thank you for your service, what a good girl you were. Never forgotten, lots of love.
