PD Mali is competing in the National Police Dog Trials this week 🐕‍🦺 PD Mali is focused, driven, and loving every second of the work. She is an outstanding working dog with the athleticism, determination, and temperament the role demands. Away from the trial field, she’s fiercely loyal, incredibly loving to those she trusts, and always enjoys her ball play. 🎾 This year, siblings PD Bruce and PD Mali are both competing at national level, which is fantastic to see. Last year, PD Zero — also sister to Bruce and Mali — was Regional Champion, so clearly competition runs in the family

On Sunday, we celebrated our amazing service animals with the first ever Service of Thanksgiving in the UK. Hundreds came to @GlosCathedral and thousands joined online. It was poignant, moving, and reminded us of the remarkable service our dogs and horses give us. Our gratitude is endless - to The Dean of Gloucester and his cathedral staff; to the MANY handlers who came from all over the country from the services we support to be with us; to @AuraCareLiving for their kind sponsorship of the event; to the volunteers; to Newent & District Choral Society and the cathedral choir; and to everyone who joined us in person, or online. Our amazing ambassadors were there too; @nickyJphoto - @LlewelynBowen - @JLlewelynBowen - @Cat_The_Vet - as well as dear friends @PipTomson and @alexlovelltv and they were joined by Gloucestershire’s High Sheriff, - Dame Fiona Reynolds. Also thanks to our wonderful @CotswoldTV Tom, who has taken loads of footage - that’s for another post! A special thanks to @ASPolice who kindly brought two beautiful police horses to meet the public - it was very special to have them there, watching gently over the dozens of handlers and dogs from all over the UK. And our love and respect to @VicPictoria who took all these wonderful photos - they have made many memories for us. Victoria donated her time and massive talent to the charity, and we are so grateful and very lucky. If you’d like to see the service, it’s on Gloucester Cathedral’s Facebook and YouTube channels. Favourite four days of the year just 24 hours away. The @PoliceDogTrials starts tomorrow hosted by @WestYorksPolice and I can’t wait. Four days of catching up with some of the best people in the world, and ones I am proud to call friends. Good luck to all the competitors, the judges, the many people who make this happen - the ‘criminals’ who hide in cupboards for 4 days, get chased and detained, lay tracks, and those who work tirelessly behind the scenes to bring it all together. It’s the biggest event in the police dog calendar and it brings competitors from all over the country in an atmosphere of camaraderie, good-natured competition, and an immense pride in their remarkable police dogs. And a lot of healthy ribbing. It is always an honour to be invited to attend and I wouldn’t miss it for the world. And after the competition, there is a dinner and prize-giving on the final night, and I shall be privileged to, for the fifth year, present the NFRSA Endeavour Trophy, on behalf of @The_NFRSA to a worthy winner. I will also be there to support @FiresideK9 who do an amazing job looking after retired police dogs in the county from @WYPDogs - and on Saturday, I’ll be giving them a hand at their stall - so do pop by and say hello if you’re coming to the public day. A huge thanks to the Chief Constable for his very kind invitation, I am looking forward to it immensely. West Yorkshire - I’m on my way - see you tomorrow! 💜

We are still reliving the historic and moving day we shared @GlosCathedral yesterday - there were 450 attendees at the service and now over 2,000 people have viewed the first ever Thanksgiving for Service Animals online, via FB and YouTube. If you haven’t seen it yet and would like to - here is the link. (Fast forward to about 9m 30s - we were a teeny bit late starting..) It was a beautiful service and experience. Completely agree. Lady B is so looking forward to attending, and presenting the NFRSA Endeavour Trophy at the awards, as well as enjoying each day at the trials. And she will be delighted to roll her sleeves up and help at the @FiresideK9 stand too is she’s needed! Such a fabulous four days and one we never miss! Don’t forget to visit @FiresideK9 if you’re going on Saturday. They support retired police dogs for @WYPDogs and @WestYorksPolice.
