The Seuna Yadavas started as Kannadiga feudatories (Kannada names, ~500 inscriptions mostly in Kannada early on). They shifted toward Marathi in the 13th-14th centuries to: - Engage their core Marathi-speaking subjects in the Deccan heartland (modern Maharashtra) for better admin/taxation. - Differentiate from rival Kannada Hoysalas to the south after Chalukya decline. Marathi appears late (~200 inscriptions, often as add-ons), becomes dominant by Ramachandra's reign. They were first to use it officially; "marathe" (1311) meant "of Maharashtra," not caste. This helped Marathi emerge as the regional language.
