Very fitting that the most Trump has ever sounded like Sleepy Joe is as he tries to sell a war on behalf of Israel a month after it started

I must have missed the part where Trump said a ceasefire has been achieved. Or that the US is about to withdraw. This was a non-speech. This was Vietnam. This was a promise that the war will continue for God knows how long. Brace yourselves. The price of everything is going up.

It appears Trump may declare that the war will wind down in 3-4 weeks, and during this period, the US and Israel will continue to bomb Iran. If so, this whole speech will be a huge nothing-burger. Just a more aggressive way to calm the markets while a disastrous war continues.

@ambkcsingh Who can predict what that ‘great’ mind will do. Perhaps not even his script writers would be assured that he will deliver as written. I hope for an exit from the region. He can choose to declare victory and even give himself a medal pr two.

A major newspaper asked for op-ed on #IranWar‌. Awaiting President Trump’s address later tonight. He may: 1. Declare Victory & exit 2. Limited ground operation to capture Kharg/other islands for negotiating power. 3. Wider campaign to open Hormuz Strait etc. My guess: No.2

@1DanStanton If they can’t prove it in a court of law they can make a better effort to prove it in the court of public opinion. Better media and better statements from people in the know; so that the public at large gets to understand the issues. @StewGlobal

Please tell me: what can I do better to assimilate? To finally become a good migrant? I am a board-certified neurosurgeon, one of only a handful in this country with additional endovascular training (still undergoing), currently with 19 high-impact publications and a doctoral thesis (summa cum laude) focused on the development of an entirely new field in the microsurgical training of young neurosurgeons, patented with the goal of free worldwide accessibility and reproducibility, and in the process of publishing my first book on this topic. I also happen to love whisky and currywurst. And everything about Western literature and art, just as I love and appreciate all these things in every other culture and civilization. Sadly, I am not going to support genocidal scum and child rapists commit endless crimes against humanity, if that’s your idea of assimilation. And I am not going to just watch them burn down the world in real time and shut up about it in order to protect myself and my career. I swore an oath. And I take it very seriously. (I do however apologize for the cheap self-congratulatory introduction for the sake of the argument)

@sabeer China has EV battery exchange done in cars in 3 minutes. Whereas India has perfected the art of dancing in front of mosques and now acquiring expertise in floating trash in North American lakes and rivers.

I was watching a program on international politics and diplomacy where a US commentator described China’s view of India - not as a competitor, but dismissively as a hub of religious tourism. A reflection, perhaps, of the consequences of poor leadership in a great nation.

This video features Nelly Furtado listening to an Indigenous throat singer performing a Furtado song. Furtado has sold more than 45 million albums. A few questions suggest themselves: 1) how do Furtado's album sales stack up against your book sales? 2) Is Furtado more reliant or less reliant on government subsidies than PostMedia newspapers, where you publish? 3) Is there any work of culture you enjoy or gives you pleasure, or are you only invested in cultural commentary to the extent it allows you to express contempt for people you dislike (usually Indigenous, Palestinian or trans people, for some reason).

@LloydMathias @virsanghvi @TheEconomist Movies are documented history🤔especially bollywood films are historical records of verified history. When Harrison Ford is shown in movies no one talks how his uncle Mr Ford built the first Buick in 1903 & that’s how Harrison got his first break or when Robert de Niro burnt Rome

Dear @virsanghvi isn't it interesting how @TheEconomist finds 'genius' in diagnosing the Indian psyche as 'browbeaten,' yet stays silent when Hollywood blockbusters like Air Force One or Independence Day cinematically turn the American Presidency into a messianic action-hero cult? And we all now how REAL that is! When Harrison Ford single-handedly terminates terrorists, it’s 'cinema' but when an Indian film celebrates its own heroes, it’s 'propaganda.' The selective amnesia of the Western critic remains the most imaginative fiction of all...but what can one say about eminent Indian editors like you, who don't see through these obvious double-standards? #Dhurandhar2@AdityaDharFilms
vir sanghvi@virsanghvi

Here’s @TheEconomist on Dhurandhar 2. “Some of the biggest cheers for “The Revenge” at the showing Banyan attended erupted not when patriotic dialogue is delivered, nor when Pakistanis are finished off in increasingly imaginative ways, nor even when the sneering terrorist has his brains blown out. The loudest cheers came when the screen lit up with news footage of Mr Modi, the bravest Hindu of all. But to dismiss “Dhurandhar” as propaganda is to miss something important. It did not become a monster hit by trying to convince viewers of an alternate reality. Its genius is to reflect the world many Indians, browbeaten by years of shrill pro-Modi messaging on TV news and social media, already believe to be real.”

@sabeer @ansujeet If that was all you are fortunate. Or they may reject if the witness signature is not at the correct angle or the notary doesn’t have a shiny gold paper sticky thingy… or only about 3 million other excuses.

India is suffocating under the weight of bureaucracy. I signed “Power of Attorney” papers exactly where required, got them notarized and apostilled - only to have them sent back asking for signatures on every single page. This isn’t process, it’s paranoia. A system built on mistrust turns even simple transactions into endless loops.

My family and I traveled from Kolkata to Geneva via Abu Dhabi with @etihad. Despite the current unrest in the Middle East, the entire experience was amazing. I want to thank @etihad, the @AUH & @UAEmediaoffice for providing such a wonderful experience.

Yes, even many of my friends or family who moved back to India start off with "so cheap to hire maids nannies drivers" as their top happiness factor. It's never about being close to parents or family or hometown. It's always about how cheap labor is ubiquitous.
Cruella de Vil@MalluChique

Former colleague of Indian origin was listing out pros of moving back to India. Top of List - Wont have to do House work anymore since they can hire Bayi and Maharaj for peanuts! Here they have to everything themselves! Cleaning & Chores is below their Upper Caste status na?!

@badassbrownmom @gauravsabnis @MalluChique Arm the 26 year old with: If your question depends on caste, it depends on dehumanising people. I’m not answering. Asking about caste is asking me to accept a hierarchy of human worth. That’s dehumanising, and I reject it. Ofc easy for an old guy to say this 😬

@capthss @gauravsabnis @MalluChique Just last week my 26 yr old said to her uncle that mummy never tells us who/what we are ( so many people have asked her). Who you are… is a grad student working hard towards being a social worker and help uplift fellow beings. That is who you are.
