As a result of my Executive Directive 1, more than 40,000 affordable housing units are in the pipeline and over 6,000 are already under construction.
No one who served our country should be living on our streets. Los Angeles has enough housing vouchers to bring every unhoused Veteran into permanent housing. That is why we are partnering with property owners and making building easier, so Veterans can use these vouchers to come inside to safe, stable housing.
Nearly 800 Veterans have been housed since we launched our “House our Vets” initiative, and we will keep going until every Veteran has a place to call home.

I’m calling on the City to drop charges against people who were peacefully exercising their rights, and to conduct a full, transparent review of LAPD crowd-control tactics and any coordination that put immigrant communities and protestors at risk. As Mayor, I will take every legislative, legal, and administrative action I can to Trump-proof LA and make clear that ICE is not welcome here — and I will hold our police department accountable to upholding that.

Last night I was with Angelenos as the LAPD detained Angelenos peacefully protesting outside the Metropolitan Detention Center, calling to abolish ICE and to support detainees and their families as part of the No Kings day of demonstration. For months now, LAPD has been kettling protestors, including teenagers. I join the chorus of supporters demanding the city drop all charges against our Angelenos who were practicing their freedom and right to protest and speech.
