If you’re an accountant and you’re not building your own firm right now, you’re missing the moment. This is a massively supply-constrained profession. Meaning: clients everywhere, not enough great accountants to serve them. I just talked to a guy who started his shop 3 years ago. He’s already at $625K in revenue with a team of 3. 40% margins. And now he’s lining up an acquisition of another firm. If you’re in accounting, building a firm today is a slam dunk. Great income on the way up. And a real exit when you’re ready to sell.

A few years ago I sold a manufacturing facility in a small town in Florida. One of the initial Buyers unreasonable request was to drive him around to look at the old post office. Here it is. He ended up not purchasing the company and we sold it to someone with fewer obscure requests. Business has doubled since. I do know he ended up buying a security company in a big city…no small post offices.
