Newly unsealed federal court documents are giving the clearest answers yet as to how a Slovak man in immigration custody escaped a Houston contract detention facility. After his escape, an ICE spokesperson would not provide specifics on how Petro got out of the facility. “Further investigation revealed the defendant used that yoga mat to scale the recreation yard wall to the roof of the building and then subsequently jumped from the roof to an area outside of the facility,” an ICE officer wrote in the complaint. ICE high speed chase causes yet another car crash—driver lucky to be alive after head on collision. Agents in unmarked cars repeatedly rammed back of red car—until it crashed into large tree. Collision so loud it sounded like "bomb went off." Nearly hit woman walking her dogs there were so many ICE vehicles in pursuit—witness told reporter in Spanish. "A little disheartening to see some sort of federal agent driving in such an aggressive way in a residential area," said another witness. "I have a two year old. We go out for walks all the time. We could have been crossing the street." ICE issued a statement claiming that agents used "the minimum amount of force" to make a "targeted arrest." This morning, I confronted ICE agents outside an immigration court room to remind them that they are prohibited from arresting anyone who appears as required at immigration court.
