I’m very excited for the weather to get nicer so I can go subway surfing, walk through Manhattan, and check out all the new DOOH ads. Looking for an adtech peer to embark on a lil side quest with me where we people watch and ad watch. It wouldn’t be complete without a lil shit talking and theorizing on cost per placement, quality, and whether the branding is actually reaching the target audience.
A couple early mornings from May to September - I’m talking 5AM in Time Square when nobody is around.
Should I do it alone and report findings?

TTD questioned why intermediaries and SSPs need to exist. Fair. But it might be time to wonder if independent DSPs that don't have any O&O need to exist. Is pure play adtech buying platform just another intermediary?

New York City is a pressure cooker, and lots of professionals have weekend places in the Hamptons to get away.
I’d argue the Hudson Valley can be the better move.
It’s closer. Less traffic. Much more peaceful.
When I leave the city on a Friday, I want to disconnect and slow down.
In the Hudson Valley, you get land, nature , and real quiet.
You’re close to skiing. You wake up to tranquility, eagles flying around, and you can sit outside and hear nothing.
The Hamptons is great if you want the scene. But if you live in New York City, you already have the scene.
For me, the weekend is about turning the volume down.
And you get a lot more for your money doing it upstate.

@tkawaja I'm not sure how you bribe an agent, but if there's one class of person who's up for the task it's a DSP salesperson.

News flash for those of you who don’t realize it — ssps and challenger dsps love adcp because it removes the human element from channel allocation. Which means all of those dinners spent wooing agencies to consolidate on 1-2 dsps get flushed down the toilet if it succeeds — because the whole “I don’t want to manage multiple dsps” reality gets turned on its head. An agent will manage 300 dsps if it drives superior results.
