@ratlpolicy Tactical successes mean nothing without a viable strategy. Airpower had not only failed to dislodge the regime but is more hardline and nationalistic than it was previously. Furthermore, they now control 20% of the world's oil supply.

Case in point, GCC support of Iraq during the Iran-Iraq War. After the war ended, Iraq ended up invading GCC member Kuwait.
