I have had this nagging feeling for the past few weeks that Apple is going to do something like Proton/Crossover style app native in macOS. Just install/run any game or Windows app seamlessly
No evidence or reports or anything, but it's possible and a step I think they should take competitively. I have 0 reason to think this will ever be a thing, but it feels like it will be a thing that could be coming.
@onehappyfellow Somewhere in between, start with scrappy prototypes; once the core idea is complete building a "perfect" plan with the understanding that sometimes real world compromises need to be made and then execute from the small scrappy base with a clear vision of where to go.
what's your method of making software?
a) polishing a turd: start from a scrappy prototype, add functionality and refactor as you go
or
b) killing your dreams: you design a perfect solution, in absence of earthly concerns such as time or cost. then you adapt the design for the real world, shedding a tear each time you have to make a compromise
@LuftkoppTim@durreadan01 Then you have to press it and then tap the screen, that defats the point of an immediate action button where you can trigger something without even looking at the device
@durreadan01 because it's unnecessary. Just like there also aren't more actions on the other buttons.
And you can already do virtually anything with Shortcuts so the limit is up to you anyway
I can’t believe that Apple still hasn’t added more functionality to the Action button.
The button already exists, why not make it more useful?!
All they have to do is let us assign different shortcuts to single-press, double-press, and tap-and-hold actions.
@durreadan01 Yeah this is one I can agree with entirely, single, double and long press options would be good. We used to have the same for the home button I'm pretty sure so it's not like they don't know how.
@QuantenMac@DelusionPosting Bzzzzt.
Oh sorry chuck, the answer we were looking for is illegal migrants.
Better luck next time.
Weird that landlords have existed even when housing markets weren't bad.
@QuantenMac@DelusionPosting Yeah, but you don't wanna throw your lot in with people who think you should just be handed a free house if you commit the majestic act of existing
@QuantenMac@DelusionPosting No the housing market isn't awful because someone owns a rental property. Housing market is awful because you flooded the nation with millions of illegals, handed them government cash to cover food and medical care thus creating a class of people who now compete for housing.
@privatetalky All superseded by more useful or simple versions, except Touch ID still being used on Mac because for whatever reason they won’t add a Face ID sensor
English people when everybody uses our legal systems, political systems, industrial inventions and our language, but then say our culture isn't worth saving.

@StephenLHall@RambleAndPint Metric, no contest. Base-10 is just correct — it maps to how mathematics works, which is why every scientific discipline uses it without exception.
@StephenLHall@RambleAndPint Yeah because metric is way more convenient in almost all use cases. I'm English but understand the imperial system isn't great and can be fully replaced.
