Dave answered the way a man does when he is already looking back on a life's work: "It has been a pleasure to work here. These 10 years I hope I've been dedicated to doing good work and important stories. I hope to look back at some point and I hope to have served you well." What stayed with people was not fear. It was peace. A born-again Christian, Dave told viewers where his calm came from: "I believe that I'm in God's hands, I'm at peace and I know he will take care of the days ahead." He kept his word. He stayed at the anchor desk for months after that broadcast, stepping down only in April 2015 when the tumor finally made it too hard to read the news. He passed away on May 26, 2015, at 52.

@sappholives83 Maybe she doesn't want to deal with the Drama that this topic causes. That's the only reason I can think of for a woman who experienced giving birth to 7 individuals. She might be tired as well.

There are so many posts like this on Bluesky, but my mom still thinks that I’m on the wrong side of this debate. We don’t talk about it, but she deeply disapproves of my activism. I truly cannot understand why she of all people is willing to buy into this crap, given the way she responded when at 15, I told her I was gay. Residual guilt? The Borg got to her? I really don’t know. My mom - my actual mom, who pushed out 7 kids with no epidural - doesn’t think that femaleness is what makes a person a woman. It blows my fvcking mind. Maybe if I show her some of the messages I’ve gotten it will reach her. I doubt it, though. I love my mom dearly, but she’s gone full woke on enough subjects that conversation is tricky.
