It looks like @amazon might screw me a second day in a row. Package moved from a location 30min away to a location 20min away, but it's getting close to the time where they usually call it off for the day. I doubt I will be renewing prime, they have gone downhill.

@AmazonHelp There are more and more "unexpected events". The package was sitting at the depot since yesterday and didn't move. Literally less than 30 minutes away from me. Packages showed up on time back when they all came via UPS.

@toms3dp I think companies that don't actually produce anything or haven't been the originator of the patent should have a shorter patent period. Sitting on someone else's work and doing none of your own is nothing but parasitic behavior.

Can someone please explain to me how one can praise patents in general, but at the same time demonize so-called "patent trolls"? After all, being able to sell your inventions to the highest bidder (or otherwise monetize them) creates a real incentive for people to innovate!

@toms3dp @eMediaTweets I mean the stock pan is probably the easiest. Doesn't need to be kept spotless, just not a mess. Watch blondihacks videos, she uses the pan I'm pretty sure. For behind it you can prop up a bed liner from an SUV, the plastic weatherproof ones.

@eMediaTweets I actually have the original stand for the lathe, which includes a drip pan. I could use that for right underneath the machine, but I feel like that would end up being even harder to clean up.

The lathe is finally with me again! Mill is coming home the next time it doesn't rain all day. Any recommendations what surface to put under the machines (and against the wall) to keep the OSB and stucco from soaking up stray cutting oil etc?

@toms3dp Yeah, time for a replacement. I just completely disassembled, cleaned, and resembled a linear bearing on an Epilog laser that was packed with particulates. Learned my lesson, just replace next time lol

I don't get Dyson Spheres. What are you going to use all that energy for? And logistically, how do you distribute it? Wouldn't compact fusion reactors make a sphere redundant, and would be infinitely more practical?

@toms3dp Yeah this tracks with my brain. Slic3r is obviously using 3 as an e, whereas simplify + well known term 3d reads as separate words.

Hi. This isn't where I planned to be today, but hey, better safe than sorry. Had vision loss and stroke-like symptoms today - best case it's just symptoms from stress, but they're giving me the full checkup to make sure it's nothing too serious. Take care everyone.

Need input: Do you think it's ok to print and show "all rights reserved" 3D models like the recent articulated dragon or "Non-commercial" ones in videos or on social media accounts that serve a business purpose?

@toms3dp @h00sierhammer @toms3dp don't you have a lot of wind, solar, and nuclear in that area? That's all pretty clean, so I would say you are in the best spot for break even.

@h00sierhammer They generate more emissions overall if you scrap them right off the production line. Today's compact EVs have emission break-even after less than 10.000km of driving, larger-battery ones at a bit more. And that's even with Europe's not-so-clean electricity production.
