@weswinder Opus 4.8 Ultracode is pretty good. Not THAT good but still very usable.

@Alennushkaa I don't think it disregards you, you just enter an age where you're the one having to do the "regarding", i.e. carry responsibility, raise family, help improve your community, etc. All of that has been vilified by modern society though, so it's tough to see the benefits for most.

Why is ageism still so vivid? It seems that the world disregards people after they are 40, 50, and even 30, especially women. I think you can achieve and build awesome things at any age. You can reinvent yourself at any time, and in this era of AI you’ll probably need to do so.

@a_apanasik Checks out. Both are relatively cheap to come by and the most visible to a user.

Working my way through a bunch of code that makes my game feel like the most busted piece of dogshit when it's wrong, and enables wondrous magic when it's right. Turning "Why would anyone ever even try that? Obviously it would never work"... into "I can't believe that works???"

@chhopsky If a game exec has a single brain cell like you, yes you might be right. But most execs have more than 1, so they track AI usage and check on their employees regularly to see what they're doing.

@sean_gause Doesn't it kinda depend on the type of game and how much you use AI and what for? Or is it just black and white with you weirdos?

@mobxgames @mattworkman That's fine, you go and care about those more important principles. Having different opinions on AI is fine, but on what principles one should care about is not?

Don't use AI as a scapegoat. Take responsibility. You need to push like hell with marketing, your game isn't being hidden because of slop, it's because marketing is really hard and you didn't focus on it enough. Trust me, I suck at marketing, too, but I don't blame others

@ZolotojKrokodil @mattworkman especially when these principles don't include abstaining from fear- and hate-mongering against other game devs who simply have another take on the matter

@mattworkman No self-proclaimed solo dev or Indie will survive the next year or two if they don't heavily use AI tooling. And even if they do chances are extremely slim they survive in this market.

I think a cruel side effect of caring deeply about your indie game is waking up during Steam Next Fest in perpetual stress about something out of your control. If only I could be a chill AI bro pumping out slop nonchalantly to end this stress…

I'm about to release my first Steam game. It looks messy and incomplete and I'm starting to think it will flop hard. So far: - I'm not sure how to tag the game - I'm not sure how to make a good capsule - I'm not sure how much charge for it #gamedev #indiedev #steam

🤯 This is a website, a simple web-based game built with WebGL and Three.js. Website: messenger.abeto.co It's honestly surprising how far web development has come.
