I told my wife last night that the average age of death for a man in the United States is about 76.5 years, and I realized I have already lived two-thirds of my lifespan. She asked why on earth I would think about that. I believe it’s important to accept and reflect on our limited time on earth. It helps focus the mind on what truly matters. One of the most powerful experiences I had in my early 30s was attending a meditation session centered on contemplating your own death. Doing so makes you realize what is truly important in life. It allows you to let go of small things and not let them bother you or ruin your day. I highly recommend pausing every now and then to ponder this thought. It will be difficult, but it will change you for the better.

@Eric5un @ChuckCook I also have the black headliner, 16 in screen and AP4.5. AWD Premium picked up on 1/30 with 205.44.300 and 13.2.9. Did FSD transfer and impatiently waiting for V14. Question, can you reboot the screen? Pressing both scroll wheel buttons for doesn’t matter how long, does nothing.

Interesting. Wonder what the hold up here is? Anyone have any thoughts?

@mrfundman I am trading in my 18 X with fsd and checked epc.tesla.com with my new VIN and it has the hw 4.5 part number associated with my vin - I am also getting black headliner and 16 inch screen which all seem to go together with 4.5.

Crazy that Tesla started delivering HW4.5 vehicles last year and we just noticed 😂

NEWS: Tesla has started to inform customers in the U.S. that free FSD transfer will end on March 31, 2026. Tesla has previously said free FSD transfers would end “that quarter,” but this is the first time in many quarters they’ve communicated a specific end date. Time will tell if this is truly the final quarter. There are only 28 days left to buy FSD outright. After that, Tesla will make it subscription-only.

@wholemars Issue is only part of the car that won’t last 100000 miles without major repair is the hardware version so makes the devision to trade in my 18 X hw3 for a AI4 feel like having to buy a very expensive computer vs a car

I estimate that 54% - 60% of Tesla’s US car fleet is running AI3. This partially explains the wide gap in FSD perception. Most FSD users aren’t running the latest version. Fixing this could be a huge unlock.

@benking @wholemars My 2018 X has 73k miles and only changed tires so far. FSD and Free supercharging and love the comfort and interior size. Wife has 2026 Y. Like it but don’t love it but am 50/50 on trading in for new Y before 3/31 as Elon seems serious about last fad transfer and V12 is not great

I’m literally holding on to my 2017 MX (owned from new) with FSD to see what happens. It’s already had AI3 and camera upgrades at Teslas expense… I reckon they will end up offering a mega deal on a new one rather than working out a retrofit on a retrofit… we will see. TBF I’d pay list on a brand new MY, if they transferred my FSD, Free Supercharging and Prenium Connectivity. @elonmusk make it happen!

Elon has said clearly that if a hardware upgrade is required for Unsupervised FSD, they will provide one free of charge *to those who purchased FSD in full*. However, they have not yet conclusively determined that a hardware upgrade will be required. My opinion: A computer upgrade will be required and will happen, but only after a few more software updates, like V14 lite and beyond. Note also that with the FSD purchase option going away on Valentine’s Day, the queue of cars entitled to a free upgrade will be closed.

Sadly 12.6.3 is definitely worse than 12.6.1 The big thing I’ve noticed is phantom braking is back big time. Other than that seems to be mostly the same. I know regressions happen but defiantly disappointing coming from 12.6.1 which felt like near perfection. Anyone notice this?
