@JEPnews I’m eager to see the detail, particularly around the ROI challenging ‘Standby Charge’ that is levied by JEC to commercial entities that wish to deploy solar.

@TJiMTS SRT still applies, those returning will more than likely have some days to fall back on, but not that long depending on their situation. If they are smart they will be using daysium.com.

Leave the UK, sell shares abroad, pay no UK tax. Come back within 5 years? HMRC claws it all back. It's called the Temporary Non-Residence rules. If an evacuation brings you home early, the clock doesn't stop.

@ITVChannelTV I think it’s beautifully Jersey, pragmatic policing. I assume they leave a note, though more comedy if they don’t.

Jersey Police has sparked a debate after the force admitted it may take your car keys to prevent crime. Some question whether their actions are appropriate, or even legal, but officers stress it is “a last resort” to reduce joyriding. Read more: itv.com/news/channel/2…

Can any of my Jersey C.I. contacts shed any light on this company that used to make games for the Acorn Archimedes in the eighties and nineties? Who were they and are the people that were involved still living in Jersey?

What will stop you driving is that insurance will inevitably become more expensive for those who intend to ‘manually drive’. It will also become the norm to not have a standard driving license, in fact may become completely unnecessary. Driving will become the reserve of the hobbyists and luddites.

It’s not even comparable, not in the slightest. You can’t say someone doesn’t “enjoy driving”, you have no authority to say that. FSD has its place and I will likely try it and subscribe at those points I do very long road trips. It won’t stop me manually driving. It won’t stop many/most people manually driving and enjoying the power of their Teslas. Maybe start enjoying a product and seeing the wider picture and also understanding what the masses think. It will do you good.

It’s 2026. If your car isn’t equipped with Tesla FSD and you’re still gripping the wheel, it’s no different than riding a horse in the age of automobiles… watching movies on a VCR in the age of streaming… typing on a BlackBerry in the age of smartphones… printing MapQuest directions in the age of GPS… burning CDs in the age of Spotify. You can say you enjoy “driving,” but technology keeps moving - with or without you. It doesn’t slow down for preference.

@davidu @mschoening @Lutron Yup exactly what did… now I can use Homeworks QS to fully reconfigure my system as I want. Especially useful in my jurisdiction where there is one ‘installer’ ransoming end users.

My house has a high end smart home lighting system that a previous owner installed (Lutron Homeworks QS). It’s extremely reliable and I’ve had zero issues with it over the years. But, I’d never buy it myself. You can’t reprogram it without calling a certified installer. In the Bay Area that’s a $500 trip. 🙃 It bothered me so much that I even considered getting certified and selling just enough Lutron gear to get an installer login. Until I introduced Opus 4.6 to the problem, that is. I now have full access and a working Rust implementation reverse-engineered from a terrible C# app (that Opus rewrote to avoid phoning home to Lutron). 🤯 Claude: 1 Lutron: 0

How is Jim Ratcliffe more in touch with British people when he’s moved to Monaco? He avoids £Ms in tax, of which could have paid for 120K nurses… but yeah sure he cares so much about British people. It’s not migrants who are the issue, it’s tax avoiding billionaires. SICK OF IT.

@Heccles94 Yes because that’s what happens when you move to another country, you no longer pay tax to the country you lived in previously. Maybe the UK should consider making the taxation more attractive to retain its millionaires and billionaires.

The anmount of Tax avoided by Jim Ratcliffe's move to Monaco could pay for an extra 120,000 NHS nurses. It's not immigrants that are the problem. It's billionaires.

For those unaware, SpaceX has already shifted focus to building a self-growing city on the Moon, as we can potentially achieve that in less than 10 years, whereas Mars would take 20+ years. The mission of SpaceX remains the same: extend consciousness and life as we know it to the stars. It is only possible to travel to Mars when the planets align every 26 months (six month trip time), whereas we can launch to the Moon every 10 days (2 day trip time). This means we can iterate much faster to complete a Moon city than a Mars city. That said, SpaceX will also strive to build a Mars city and begin doing so in about 5 to 7 years, but the overriding priority is securing the future of civilization and the Moon is faster.

@tesla_uk I really want to change my aging MX for a new MY. I possibly want to trade in, I possibly want to use your HP credit, I definitely want to transfer my FSD. I have completed the trade in form, requested FSD transfer, enquired about every single available inventory MY. Not one callback or response on any enquiry. I want to spend money with you, help!

Anthropic had 16 AI agents build a C compiler from scratch. 100k lines, compiles the Linux kernel, $20k, 2 weeks. To put that in perspective GCC took thousands of engineers over 37 years to build. (Granted from 1987 - however) One researcher and 16 AI agents just built a compiler that passes 99% of GCC's own torture test suite, compiles FFmpeg, Redis, PostgreSQL, QEMU and runs Doom. They say they "(mostly) walked away." But that "mostly" is doing heavy lifting. No human wrote code but the researcher constantly redesigned tests, built CI pipelines when agents broke each other's work, and created workarounds when all 16 agents got stuck on the same bug. The human role didn't disappear. It shifted from writing code to engineering the environment that lets AI write code. I don’t know how you could make the point AI is hitting a wall.
