EU: "We have a special alliance with the USA!" USA: "Sweet. Hop on. We're gonna go make mincemeat out of terrorists." EU: "Omg racists don't you know how to negotiate?" USA: "K fine, bombing them without you." EU: "Oh, no, the terrorists won't sell us oil anymore! Damn you, USA!" USA: "We have plenty lol. You should buy some from us." EU: "No, you're racist and sell things in dollars with your dollar imperialism." USA: "Ok... well you can go secure your own oil sales." EU: "No, you have to secure my oil for me or else we're your vassals." USA: "Not really seeing the point in continuing this relationship." EU: "YOU HATE WESTERN CIVILIZATION!"

Having worked with Asian countries as well, this is what I’d say from an American perspective: Japan: excellent to work with, if you can even get them to work with you; expensive, but quality Taiwan: excellent to work with, when you eventually get them to work with you, but timing is a bit tough; not too expensive, and quality if they make it Korea: difficult to contact, harder to work with if not off the shelf and extremely script oriented with little room for experimentation; excellent price for quality China: will be good on the surface and screw you if you’re not paying attention unless you pay a bit above average and filter for that, but extremely willing to work with you; insanely cheap to the point it seems fake, poor to decent quality unless in specialized items which is decent to good quality, but rarely excellent India/Pakistan: bro what the hell man, you told me a minute ago in the conversation you’ll do this and now you’re gaslighting me *on a recording* that you never said that; bad pricing, bad quality, lol? i never once successfully had anything done with either key note: east asian countries are high context cultures, so a lot is relationship or implication driven contracts aren’t exactly ignored, but going off contract is somewhat expected to a degree in specific situations china is used to being called out and will make it work (and a quality loss), but say in japan if an indigo supplier can’t make the exact quantity by a small margin (they refuse to compromise on quality), being polite about it goes a longer way and they often make it up in other ways that are beneficial long term building trust works for east asia, but i have no idea how south asia works here cause contracts, calling them out, and not paying them doesn’t seem to work at all

I cannot overstate how absurd it is to suggest that, say, Japan offers more of intelligence value to the United States than Britain. This applies in essentially every respect: HUMINT on hard targets like Russia, depth of SIGINT co-operation, access to geography like Cyprus, etc.
Mark Dubowitz@mdubowitz

Five Eyes was built for another era. We get diminishing value from four partners, and ties with Britain are at a low point. Time to rethink the alliance around those actually delivering intelligence value — Israel, Poland, Ukraine, UAE, Japan, ROK and other serious partners.

What's bizarre is that if this post is true, why did America blowing up Nordstream not turn Europeans against Joe Biden but the Hormuz strait being closed has turned them against Trump?
Carl Benjamin 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿@Sargon_of_Akkad

America blew up the Nordstream pipeline, and now has closed the Strait of Hormuz. Hard not to see this as a deliberate strategy of denying energy to Europe, whilst America can produce its own. Callous.

Europe needs to develop a survival instinct. A bit of chaos, desperation, and vulnerability is the only way you get reindustrialisation and remigration, I think.

@TukiFromKL Keep relying on that ASML cope. It's licensed American technology. And you need more than one company.

🚨 do you understand what Bill Ackman just said about Europe.. wrote an essay about how Europe is finished.. immigration destroying cities, no AI innovation, abandoned America on Iran, NATO collapsing.. the whole thing.. let me give you the part he conveniently left out.. the biggest waves of immigrants flooding into Europe came from Iraq, which America invaded in 2003.. from Libya, which NATO bombed into a failed state in 2011.. from Syria, which America destabilized through a decade of proxy wars.. from Afghanistan, which America occupied for 20 years and then abandoned the moment it got inconvenient.. America created the refugee crisis and handed Europe the bill.. then there's the "$200 billion helping Ukraine" line.. America sent weapons and loans.. Europe absorbed 8 million Ukrainian refugees, opened their borders, and rebuilt entire communities from scratch.. Ackman counted the weapons.. not the people.. and then he said Europe has "no progress or innovation in AI.." ASML is a Dutch company.. they manufacture the only machines in the world capable of producing advanced semiconductors.. every Nvidia GPU that powers every AI model Ackman has ever invested in exists because of a European monopoly.. without ASML there is no ChatGPT, no Claude, no AI race.. Europe doesn't just participate in AI.. Europe literally controls the factory that makes AI physically possible.. and the man making this argument is the same billionaire who made $2.6 billion betting against the market during the pandemic while the rest of the world burned.. without a single Dutch company, Ackman's entire AI investment thesis collapses overnight.. but sure.. Europe isn't innovating.
Bill Ackman@BillAckman

Europe is on a path to destroying itself. Unchecked immigration of millions of immigrants that burden their welfare states, bring violence and terrorism to their shores, and take over local governance, one city at a time. Anti-capitalist policies that make it difficult for businesses to adapt their workforces to a rapidly changing competitive environment now accelerating due to AI. A business environment and tax regime that is antithetical to startups. The absence of any progress or innovation in AI and limited access to the compute necessary to compete. Energy dependence due to the green movement at a moment when energy demands are rapidly increasing. And now, the abandonment of the U.S. when we have asked for limited assistance — base access and flyover rights — in the midst of our efforts to eliminate Iran’s nuclear and ballistic threat which is already within striking range of Europe, after we have invested nearly $200 billion in helping Ukraine. NATO is about to be toast. Europe’s defense burden is about to rise massively while their economies continue to fall further and further behind. In short, Europe needs to wake up before it is too late, and it may very well be too late.

JD Vance is the overwhelming favorite to win the 2028 GOP presidential nomination. That doesn't mean he'll get it unopposed. Someone will challenge him. The question is who. Who, that is, will be the Nikki Haley of 2028? My latest for @dcexaminer, this week's cover story. Link ⬇️

@paganism_eu @BillAckman Oh, please with the copium. Those countries are full of people who take advantage of this situation, along-side the rest of the impoverished world. It has nothing to do with NATO or US policies.

Bill, where do you think those millions of immigrants came from? Iraq, which America invaded. Libya, which NATO bombed into a failed state. Syria, which America destabilized. Afghanistan, occupied for 20 years then abandoned overnight. And now Gaza, where Israel has killed over 50,000 people with American weapons, displaced 2 million, and created a generation of refugees that Europe will be expected to absorb while America sends more bombs and Israel sends thoughts and prayers. Every refugee wave into Europe has American and Israeli fingerprints on it. You broke their countries and then blame us for taking in the survivors. And now you’re bombing Iran which will create the next wave.
