@bartosz @Mostly_Infamous @justabirthmk @KarrDriver you understand that Tesla “disabled your camera” not as a punitive measure but as a technical one, right? the hack works by enabling Traffic Light and Stop Sign Control setting, then modifying autopilot/UI control frames to flip FSD-related bits using vulns in those frames.

Imagine if Audi would do “we don’t like the new suspension/exhaust” you added so we disabled your climate control that you paid for. I paid for FSD, I put third party mod on a thing (car) that I own. Tesla doesn’t like it so now 8k€ spent on FSD (in EU it means traffic lights aware cruise control) was disabled. What’s next @elonmusk ? We don’t like you speeding, we took your Boost package? We don’t like the wrap you put on the car, auto park was disabled for your car. Can I get refund of the FSD now please @teslaeurope ? I don’t want to update the car, it’s not safety you are worried about, do I own the car or do I not? Where do I send my bank account for the 8k€ refund since you disabled it? The car thinks I don’t have the FSD anymore yet my bank account is 8k € out of pocket.

@whitneyfat @bartosz @comma_ai uh, that’s fine. what’s not fine is using that root access to run software that isn’t licensed to you. if you have root, just install your own FSD or TACC code. should be no problem if you’re actually a hacker and not just buying someone else’s hack.

@bartosz it was not “stolen”, the developer needed a way to prevent your hack from working. it’s very obvious you don’t understand what CAN injection is doing, because being able to run TACC is *why* your car can be modified to run FSD. it’s literally the platform for the hack

You are right about FSD. But I got access to a LEGAL feature of traffic lights awareness. This was 8k eur. This was taken away (stolen). Poof gone. I don’t have it. Others have it in EU. Is this not a theft? If they take next time Boost that you pay for because you put a magnet on your steering wheel is this not theft?

@bartosz @bobross_jay it’s not punitive, it’s because they don’t want to play and mouse with who you bought the hack from. disabling the entire system prevents them from needing to patch every re-crack of the CAN frame injection

@bobross_jay @praeteritia In EU when you pay for FSD what it means is that you get the tragic lights and NOTHING more. Hence when I said FSD payment it wa sbecause that how they call it. But you get traffic lights thing. That was taken away

@bartosz Modifying the way the car transmits CAN messages to get functionality that hasn’t been granted to you is theft. If Tesla hasn’t enabled FSD on your car it means you don’t have a license to run it.
