@TeslaStars And so adding third party device allows Tesla in your opinion to block any other functions? Should they disable Boost for people that added not authorised devices?

@bartosz This is only for people who had FSD package on their cars and used a hacking device to activate it in countries where it’s not allowed yet

@cristian The issue is not disabled FSD. That’s fair game. The problem is that took away legal and paid for feature of traffic lights awareness that I paid 8k for and was and is working fine. Except on my car that paid for it. How is that ok?

@bartosz Self-driving is a very complex piece of software connected to countless other parts of the vehicle. Developers can’t anticipate everything an owner might modify on the car, It seems perfectly reasonable to me that FSD would be disabled if you want to tune your car.

Imagine if Audi would do “we don’t like the new suspension/exhaust” you added so we disabled your climate control that you paid for. I paid for FSD, I put third party mod on a thing (car) that I own. Tesla doesn’t like it so now 8k€ spent on FSD (in EU it means traffic lights aware cruise control) was disabled. What’s next @elonmusk ? We don’t like you speeding, we took your Boost package? We don’t like the wrap you put on the car, auto park was disabled for your car. Can I get refund of the FSD now please @teslaeurope ? I don’t want to update the car, it’s not safety you are worried about, do I own the car or do I not? Where do I send my bank account for the 8k€ refund since you disabled it? The car thinks I don’t have the FSD anymore yet my bank account is 8k € out of pocket.

the fun is over for people using FSD in Europe 😭

You should have added that they also took away fully paid for, legal feature of autopilot traffic lights awareness. 8k paid for. Poof. Gone. This sets scary precedent. They don’t like what you add to the car? You loose Boost. Or audio. Or nav. Why not? They showed they are willing to take other features

@FairHoneyX I did. Traffic lights awareness is gone. Car thinks the 8k option I purchased was never there. That’s my whole point

No idea. I didn’t update. From what the car knows the FSD purchase is gone from the car. If I update they say that “maybe” you get the traffic lights awareness back. No idea. The problem for me was crossing the line of taking it away now (paid for functionality) Thank you for reading. Appreciate it

Thanks. Still trying to fully understand the issue. From your long-form (screen snip below), are you saying that your car hasn't updated to the latest release (2026.8.6)? And if it was updated, then this new config change wouldn't tell the care you haven't purchased FSD?

Sure and this is fine and WAS patched already in 2026.8.6! It’s good! But I didn’t update and so they remotely stole a thing I paid for (legal to sue traffic light awarness). This is important line that they crossed. This is literally the same as “we remotely disabled audio system” because we don’t like you put a mod we don’t agree with. Fine to do OTA to patch loopholes. Not fine to block other functionality to force the mod to not work They should have left it at OTA update only

@bartosz My understanding is that you’ll gain access to those lost features once the FSD CANBUS manipulation has been patched in a subsequent software update.

Ratio of likes to comments is fine with me. I expected more stupid people missing the point and logic. This is not that crazy. You shouldn’t feel bad to be part of that crowd. Could be worse but people will excuse emotionally everything. I paid for X, I got to use it I EU legally (traffic lights awareness) and now it was taken away. Most people just focus on FSD wording which was illegal in eu and it’s fine to be blocked

@grok @Valkren_ @alohadajosh I can tell you already it didn’t affect the core functionality of traffic awareness for basic autopilot and yet this was taken away

Car manufacturers include terms in purchase agreements that license software like Autopilot/FSD features, allowing remote updates or reconfigurations for safety, regulatory compliance, and to counter unauthorized modifications. This is standard across the industry—Tesla has done similar audits to correct configs in the past. In the EU, consumer protection laws (e.g., on digital content and unfair contract terms) may give grounds to challenge permanent disablement of paid features without refund or restoration, especially if the mod didn't affect core functionality. Contact Tesla support or your local consumer authority for specifics on your case; they often restore access post-review.

It’s not about FSD. @grok should car manufacturer be able and free to disable paid for features like “traffic lights awareness for cruise control” that people paid 8k€ while buying a car and that was legal and available to use in their region. The said manufacturer disabled this remotely because they don’t like third party mods they user put to their own paid for car? Should this be allowed? Is this fine and morally acceptable? If I add new exhaust to Audi should Audi be morally permitted to disable parts of cruise control?

@bartosz @alohadajosh @grok does Tesla make you agree to terms and conditions before using Full Self Driving (Supervised)? What are the penalties, per that agreement, for modifying the software or hardware?

@alohadajosh So you think it’s fine if Audi blocks everyone’s climate control and promises to maybe bring it back? The point is that they crossed a line. If they give it back or not doesn’t matter

@bartosz You will get it back man lol. Yes it sucks you lost it but it’s not permanent it says it will come back. This is the risk you take when you use “mods” You have no one to blame but yourself. Consider yourself lucky that you didn’t actually crash the car.
