Today, I'm thrilled to announce Pramaana's $27M seed, led by @khoslaventures. The foundational domains that hold the world together: tax, law, finance, healthcare; all run on certainty. Probabilistic AI can't give them that. We’ve been asked to accept wrong answers with AI as ‘hallucinations’, while in traditional software terms, it’s just a bug. And a wrong answer in such mission-critical domains is more than just a bug, it's a liability that could have catastrophic impact. We built Pramaana to deliver a 100% trustable experience to the domains that run on certainty: AI that is provably correct, not probabilistically correct. We turn statute and regulation into machine-verifiable code, so every output ships with mathematical proof of correctness. Our mission is to make AI take ownership of it’s work. Pramaana in Sanskrit stands for “means of valid knowledge”, and we’re going to achieve that by formalizing the world’s knowledge.

AI in 2040 will not be built on the stack we are using today. It will be much closer to optimal. The current stack has 3-4 orders of magnitude of data inefficiency and 4-5 orders of magnitude of compute inefficiency. Near-optimal AI is what symbolic learning will deliver.

I like this excerpt from an old interview with @rabois where he quotes @paulg about how market-first investors and founder-first investors are not as far apart as it might seem. ---- Paul Graham and others argue team trumps market, a view that I tend to share. As expressed by Paul: "Some, like Ron Conway, say it's the people—that the idea will change, but the people are the foundation of the company. Whereas Marc Andreessen says he'd back ok founders in a hot market over great founders in a bad one. These two positions are not so far apart as they seem, because good people find good markets. Bill Gates would probably have ended up pretty rich even if IBM hadn't happened to drop the PC standard in his lap. I've thought a lot about the disagreement between the investors who prefer to bet on people and those who prefer to bet on markets. It's kind of surprising that it even exists. You'd expect opinions to have converged more. But I think I've figured out what's going on. The three most prominent people I know who favor markets are Marc, Jawed Karim, and Joe Kraus. And all three of them, in their own startups, basically flew into a thermal: they hit a market growing so fast that it was all they could do to keep up with it. That kind of experience is hard to ignore. Plus I think they underestimate themselves: they think back to how easy it felt to ride that huge thermal upward, and they think "anyone could have done it." But that isn't true; they are not ordinary people. So as an angel investor I think you want to go with Ron Conway and bet on people. Thermals happen, yes, but no one can predict them—not even the founders, and certainly not you as an investor. And only good people can ride the thermals if they hit them anyway."

@AbhilashaPurwar We need power right now. In the AI age, the decadal marathon is misplaced. Timeline has shortened significantly. If you don't have traction in 6 months, you need to seriously looking at your strategy and if need be, restart. The risk is a semblance of slow and small success.

Indian tech bros are grossly under estimating how much endurance building requires. I am a 1x founder who faced severe crash/ brain fog/ wtf I am doing in Y4. For a 10 year IPOable journey, that’s approx 2.5/3 crashes, building company/ product is a decade long marathon not a 2 month sprint, stop applying your mind and body like it’s a finite sprint. Build physical mental emotional intellectual endurance for this 100 km ultramarathon so you also come okay, happy, functional and not totally crashed out on other side. Ultramarathon people. Not a sprint. Same exercise but Different training. Different approach.
