Any time I try and progress even the slightest simple change this happens. 😂 I could have designed a landing page better in the time it took to break, again.🤦🏼‍♂️I expected better form Google. I'll stick to Framer and Figma.

I went into Google Stitch and looked around. This is NOT replacing designers. It's like saying downloading a figma UI kit will replace designers. You can already prompt AI to do stuff in regular design tools. But if you don't have taste, you end up with the inflated median, not quality product. It's an average of an average of an average. Safe, but boring and predictable. And to make anything good here it's waiting for your input. If you don't have the eye for design, your input won't help. AI won't be able to make anything beyond a template. We had those since 2005 on TemplateMonster. This is the same recycling of average ideas, now with a prompt box as input. But this is meaningful for another reason. It's making non-skilled people believe they have skills, which will mean that the median will get even more inflated. We won't get as many utterly horrible sites, but also not many actually great ones. So bottom line: designers are not cooked. If you have no idea what you're doing no AI will make your work great. It will just help you reach mediocrity faster.

WOW. 11M views and counting? Let's keep the momentum going! Would love to see what you are building.
Stitch by Google@stitchbygoogle

We’ve been overwhelmed by the feedback on the new Stitch. 🫶 Now, let’s get to building. 😀 Over the coming weeks, we're dropping Starter Ideas to spark your creativity—and want to showcase what you build! 🌟 Starter Idea #1: Watch the new agent and AI-Native Canvas turn a messy doc into a fully styled portfolio. 📝 The Input: Highlight and copy your raw resume text 🎨 The Prompt: "Make me a single-page resume site in 3 fun styles" + paste your resume text ✨ Stitch turns your resume into a text canvas node where it can be referenced or edited ✨ It generates 3 unique Design Systems and layouts 🔷 The Polish: Upload a headshot, and the agent auto-crops and styles it to match the exact aesthetic of each site. We have loved seeing your creations so far. Drop your shared projects in the replies—we're putting together a plan to showcase our favorites!

We are not cooked, my first try with Stitch by Google was disappointing. Couldn't even accurately grab font, colors or border radius from a reference image 🗑️

I have a theory that node-based interfaces will win because from any screenshot you can immediately tell what’s going on, especially compared to linear prompting interfaces. This is extremely important for onboarding and adoption. The node-based stuff is largely a visual preference and kinda a gimmick (it’s no different functionally, at this point), but i’ve found it does make tutorials or client walkthroughs much easier

@areyous76505851 @jacalulu It's good feedback - we are working on this. For simple edits we don't need to make an entirely new design system. On it.

@jacalulu It definitely is a downgrade Simply put I tried to make a dark mode of a mockup it made and it literally made a whole new layout - dark. It used to not be bad and would remember/recreate the layout and components just making it dark, now too much changes with a basic edit

I just tried this... Asked it for a styleguide for a new site of mine (so I can build out more pages and layouts that match) - it pulled colors, fonts and generic icons into a canvas... So I told it to include images and design elements too - it mocked up 3 new generic pages with my content, that looked nothing like the reference site or the style guide it made. Started over, asked it for some redesign of ideas for another site - it mocked up the layout into a food blog. 3 versions, 1 didn't look like slop. These tools are amazing but y'all need to get off the hype train and get back to building.

@tokumin @stitchbygoogle super nice of you to say! It's always a hard decision whether to lead with the sizzle video or the more literal product walkthrough video... different types of users going to prefer different content

@UltraLinx I think the sizzle video is not the best representation of what Stitch can do. Curious to see what you get when you try it
