This is probably the most important piece of the Goedert contract cap math -- he can be processed as a June 1 waiver candidate next year.
Spotrac@spotrac

@Joe_Morrison1 There's about $17.5M of dead cap sitting in 2027 right now (as much as $18.2M if the incentives vest). But the contract contains language that will allow the Eagles to process that void as a Post 6/1 move this time around. So it will be a much cleaner process.

@shlynch I'll get to that on my comp pick evaluation article soon--been swamped with other things before I could get to it.

@nickkorte Do you know how Howie avoided losing a comp pick on Ojulari? I’m curious if he’s repeating it with this year’s free agents and if we would even be able to tell.

@LesBowen Landon’s new deal is set up to accommodate a retirement after this season. Much like Kelce’s deals used to be.

This is something I’ve thought about. As the o-line goes, the Eagles go. Yes, a big draft emphasis, but, given injury histories/age, I would think decent veteran depth would be a priority. And don’t tell me how Howie has to save every penny to extend so-and-so in 2028 whatevs.
Anthony Gargano@AnthonyLGargano

It might have flown under the radar, but the depth on the Eagles' offensive line is thin. "When you look through their depth chart, they do not have a swing tackle right now." -@EJSmith94

@JimmyKempski 2027 7th round pick might be more valuable than a 2026 6th round pick.

@Mfranknfl Any they will need it; the reality of good drafting is that we have a lot of guys we will want to pay in the next couple years.

@shlynch Right. If they trade AJ, they’ll have plenty of cap space in future years to re-sign players and add others

@JimmyKempski @shlynch I believe up until a few years ago they used to allow post 6/1 trade designations.

@Jason_OTC Your 5th year options page has Jalen Carter in the 1 Pro Bowl bucket, but I think he made 2?

Want to know why Jeff Stoutland left the Eagles? It all comes down to major philosophical differences.

@shlynch Option proration for the year. NFL usually locks those in once the LY starts unless team renounces it or acquires after its been picked up by another team

@lawlornfl Definitely. I'm just saying if Stoutland's agent said that last week on ESPN, which I'm not doubting, it's weird that it wasn't discussed by the people I follow.

@John_Karalis Or, alternatively, it’s a situation where you can only vote for 3 of 5 proposed strong candidates and you need 80% to get elected and 20% think there 3 of the other 4 were more worth this year. Blame the system.
