I think that if a Leafs GM re-imagined a hockey ops department with the current state of technology, it would bring massive improvements.
There’s so much clunky legacy tech that should be re-built into way better work flows.

@JFreshHockey @Hamalytics @C_R_907 I don’t think the eye test is favorable for Zeev, too. His and Sanderson’s bodies look very different. Early in the season Zeev seemed to just fall a lot and bail on plays. I’m sure he’ll be great but elite ? Or even a top-2 ? Time will tell.

@Hamalytics @C_R_907 i get it, but sanderson had shown more than buium. it's not that buium doesn't have the potential to be worth $8M+, but this is giving top pair money to a guy who hasn't even performed well in the NHL yet

Jake Sanderson, extended 8x$8.1M by OTT, is a talented young two-way puck-moving defenceman coming off a strong rookie season. He played top four minutes with solid impacts, an excellent penalty differential, and a very active role in transition. Big bet here for the Sens.

Treliving won’t hide and will accept his share of the responsibility for a brutal year. Meanwhile, Craig Berube is about to coach the Maple Leafs tonight in Anaheim and sources say other than being made aware of Treliving’s fate, Berube has been given no indication of what his future is with the club beyond this season.

The Leafs will conduct a formal GM search. Hugely important off-season for the Leafs, to say the least. Getting going on GM search asap deemed important rather than wait another two-plus weeks for regular season to end before making the GM change. Treliving had one more year on his contract next season.

I just stopped by the “No Kings” rally and noticed it’s dramatically smaller than past ones.

Trump: You see this pen right here? This pen is very inexpensive. But it writes well. I like it. Sharpie. I came here. They had $1,000 pens. You hand out pens. You hand them to people. 30, 40 people. They were $1,000 a piece. Beautiful pen, ball point. I hand out to kids that don't know. It's kid getting a pen for $1,000. They have no idea what it is.
I had another problem. They didn’t write well. I sign—no ink. I have all you people looking and say there must be something wrong with Trump. There is no ink in the pen. It cost $1,000.

Yup! And our country has short attention spans, poor memories and a big time media problem. The next president will get blamed for Trump’s actions, not going fast enough, will lose a midterm house election and the cycle will continue …
