Avatamsaka Sutra talks about very old Boddhisatvas from eons ago being part of the ingredient in anyone's current awakening (impossible to awaken without their presence planting in us the roots of goodness).
They also assert there is no beginning to this. No creator. No witness. It all comes together as a group phenomenon. Both the creation of the universe *and* the awakening of beings.

the reason why emotional intelligence is extremely rare is simply cuz it is expensive.
actually modeling another person’s internal state in real time is computationally brutal.. it requires suppressing your own frame, running a parallel simulation, & updating continuously.
the “inference costs” of eq in humans are likely much higher than the most expensive ai model in existence today.

this talk was the first i did that was really polarizing. that was... kind of the point though!
to me it shows a bifurcation in the industry — it was either a confirmation of something you were already feeling, or a new, deeply uncomfortable thing.
