@ActionRetro1 @never_released Very nice! This makes me wonder why macOS was never ported to powerPC boards like the pegasos I/II. I guess it would have required even less work/driver support.

One of the last games of the Bitmap Brothers and also one of their best, in my opinion. Z from 1996 was such a blast, a great game with its own humorous take on the RTS genre. Yes, I know, Command & Conquer was published a year earlier and was more complex (and turned into a massive franchise), but I always felt that Z deserved more credit and is sometimes overlooked. Great graphics, an epic soundtrack, and some fun units (who doesn't love the Psychos?) - but it was still not enough, and despite some excellent reviews, sales numbers were pretty low. Earlier games from the Bitmap Brothers, such as Speedball 2 or Xenon 2, were commercially much more successful. Maybe it was the fact that the RTS genre was already quite saturated with massive hits (Dune II, Warcraft: Orcs & Humans, Command & Conquer), and that caused a bit of gamers' fatigue? Maybe that pushed Z into the offside a bit, who knows. Did you play it back in the day and liked it?

@exQUIZitely Lands of Lore is the best RPG to me—still remember the intro at my favorite computer store. The cloak animation blew my mind… Stunning visuals, sound, gameplay—everything spot on. And way more accessible than earlier RPGs. Rick Parks at his peak. Gone too soon :/

Lands of Lore: The Throne of Chaos (Westwood Studios, 1993) had one of the best intros and in-game cutscenes of the early 90s. Hearing Captain Picard utter those words was the ultimate nerd chill moment! It's a classic dungeon crawler, highly popular at the time when other games like Dungeon Master, Might and Magic, Wizardry, or Eye of the Beholder were hugely successful. Unlike other RPGs at the time, the goal was to appeal to a less "pro" audience, meaning that the essential aspects such as character generation (rolling/assigning stat points, etc.) was dropped in favor of pre-made characters. Less true to the traditional Advanced Dungeon's & Dragons system, Lands of Lore was supposed to be "easier to get into" even for inexperienced players. Other traditional aspects like finding armor, weapons, and potions were kept. If you liked Eye of the Beholder or the Might and Magic series, Lands of Lore was probably also high on your list. Defintely a must play for any RPG fan of the 90s.

Pire encore, ils mentent ! Ça me fume !

Prince of Persia (1989), Another World (1991), and Flashback (1992) - over a timespan of just 4 years, we were given some of the best platformers in gaming history. I wish they'd still make games like this. But then again, you can always replay the old masterpieces...

Remembering the legendary French actor, Jean-Paul Belmondo, on his 93rd birthday! In 'Fear Over the City' (1975), Jean-Paul Belmondo performed all the stunts on his own without a double. Almost all of them were very dangerous. The movie had a car chase, a helicopter scene, a Rooftop fight lasting several minutes & the most dangerous of them all, this incredible chase on a moving train in the metro. For the metro scene, the RATP (the Parisian Autonomous Transit Network) allowed the crew to film the chase scene from midnight till 5am (when the metro is closed), for three weeks! At the end, the metro driver said to Belmondo, "I wouldn't have done this for a million Francs (around 200,000 modern Euros)!" To which, Belmondo replied, "neither did I!" [Source: IMDb] P.S: On this day, 51 years ago, 'Fear Over the City' (1975) was released in France.

Now I understand the full picture. The cleanest fix is... But actually, the real fix simpler... Actually wait. The best fix: Now the real fix. Actually, let me reconsider. OK Key finding: Wait I need a hardware device I can physically punch to stop the agentic session.

🔴💾 Someone connected a 3.5" floppy drive to their Tesla... and it works, because the Linux kernel still supports this subsystem. It can be used as storage for playing MP3s from a floppy disk, but unfortunately can't be used to store Tesla camera footage.

I built my dream Markdown editor for Mac. → Introducing Cogito (pronounced koh-gee-toh). It started out of frustration: Obsidian is powerful but overwhelming. iA Writer is beautiful but feels built for a different era. Nothing felt right for how I actually write and work now: plain files, lots of folders, agents and scripts editing alongside me. I wanted both: native and beautiful, powerful and calm. So I finally built it. It's fast, keyboard-first, polished, truly native. A Mac app built with power users and developers in mind. This is my love letter to writing and Mac apps. I use it for all my writing now. Free while in beta ✌️

I’ve sold 60 copies of my first game. No publisher. No team. Just me, working from my living room. I make niche games most people will probably never play. But I love drawing every frame, composing the music, building these worlds. So I keep going.

Any fans of this masterpiece? One of the few games I managed to finish (in 2 player mode with my brother) without using unlimited lives: Silkworm It's a classic horizontally scrolling shoot 'em up developed and published by Tecmo for arcades in 1988. You control either a heli (player 1) or a jeep (player 2) as they blast through enemy territory. And "blast" in the very sense of the word - great sound effects, epic explosions, and non-stop action. The helicopter offers free movement in the air, while the jeep drives on the ground, can jump over obstacles like mines, and has a turret that rotates to shoot in a 180 degree angle. Originally an arcade game, it was later ported to home computers like the Amiga (as in the video) and consoles. To me still one of the best games ever for the Amiga, and still playing it these days when my brother comes for a visit.
