Lately, I’ve been reflecting on how much I’ve had to scale back the number of opportunities I say yes to. When I was younger, I had time to chase everything. Back then, every opportunity felt like a chance to build my name and my career. Saying no felt like falling behind. These days, I get access to opportunities I couldn’t have dreamed of earlier in my career. But now, I just don’t have the time to take them all on. At this point, I’m turning things down almost every week. Not because they aren’t exciting, but because I’d be stretched too thin. What matters more now is giving the right focus to what’s already on my plate. Particularly with Miden. What’s been most interesting is that I made the shift from saying yes to everything to being far more selective. I didn’t even realize it was happening. It was entirely subconscious. For the first time, I actually understand that Steve Jobs quote about how focus isn’t about saying yes, but about saying no to the hundred other good ideas. I’d read it so many times when I was younger, but I don’t think it really landed until now. It’s strange how maturity shows up. Not in chasing every door that opens, but in knowing which ones are worth walking through.

Must’ve spoken to 80+ AI Agent builders this week across 40+ crypto AI events Here are the top takeaways THE GOOD Trad AI engineers are coming Seeing this happen mostly in crypto AI infrastructure teams. This is great. If we want to compete with web2 we need to harness AI/ML talent. Convinced combining cracked AI engineers with open source will lead to 0-1 innovation. We’re already seeing it with decentralized training eg @NousResearch @PrimeIntellect Agent “launchpads” are expanding into apps / services Most agent platforms just allow you to launch a token. Everyone now thinks this is mid (thank god) The true potential for these platforms is an end-to-end agent experience. Seeing teams start to shifting into building an “AppStore for agents” where any agent can tap into a variety of tools & services to execute on their goal This will be a big money maker imo. also seeing teams starting to build a framework for agents to work with each other across chains. @virtuals_io demo’d a version of this for BASE last week. The #1 desired agent =“alpha agents” Crypto twitter is terrible for sourcing alpha. Too much noise. AIXBT changed this but people want less hallucinations & more direct investment advice. Clear demand for an “AI financial advisor” that gives you real-time picks. Way more people investing & building in crypto AI than I expected. Attended 40+ events, all venues were maxed out. Energy & excitement was the highest I’ve seen for any sector in a while. Every “ecosystem” & “protocol” event had an AI track. Bittensor eco still has the highest concentration of AI/ML talent. I attended Yuma Day, a showcase for bittensor subnets. Just from speaking to teams it’s evident they’re working on solving some pretty ambitious problems & have the talent to execute. Given Bittensors recent shift to Dynamic Tao, think this eco is one to watch. THE BAD Too much focus on DeFAI. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but majority are building the same thing “ChatGPT for DeFi” or “yield strategy agent” In reality: The *architecture* of how these agents interact with each other & crypto apps needs to be worked on first. This will lead to smarter DeFAI agents. 90% of Agent Frameworks don’t offer anything unique. They’re all integrating the same APIs, no-code designs etc. It’s hard to see where the moat forms. Therefore I expect most will die out unless they pivot. Imo the more pressing opportunity lies in enabling custom design. ~70% of projects are too focused on $$$ vs. product. This is a common crux of crypto & it really needs to change tbh. Silver-lining: this meant the real builders stood out more. Stark difference in innovation between web3 AI & web2 AI web2 AI companies have started generating meaningful revenue & impact. Web3 AI in comparison is lacking. However, the latter is a much newer industry & will take time to mature. This, imo, is where the opportunity lies. BONUS Loved the energy from the @cookiedotfun @StoryProtocol @hyperbolic_labs teams - good vibes. @dabit3 lowkey has the best fits @MurrLincoln convinced me AI Agent robot dogs might actually be a thing. @arcdotfun had the best merch @Shaughnessy119 really is the goat, was investing in this space well before it was a consensus trade (go watch recent Bankless EP to learn more) @econoar *really* likes @freysa_ai & his daughters agent is potentially about to win $250K. Overall I remain very bullish. Crypto AI is not going anywhere.

Blown away by the @altstatemachine / @6079ai / @futureverse announcements today. $THINK is going to be one of the biggest plays of the year IMO. Huge based team, patents, brilliant approach - nothing really comes close.

Caved and got o1 Pro. I asked it my favorite question to ask these models, and it gave much more interesting answers than either o1 preview or Claude 3.5 Sonnet. They're not quite as mind-bending as I'd want -- I've seen a version of all of them except #7 -- but still better:

Technology augments human capabilities… My daughter was born blind, and one of the best surgeons in the world rebuilt her eyes at 8 weeks old. When they finally removed the bandages she smiled for the first time. Seeing the announcement of the Tesla taxi gives me hope that she’ll be able to drive by herself around the same time as her peers. Technology is one of the most human things.
