The reason for this isn’t Rust. It’s Chrome vs native Webviews. Chrome dominates in performance compared to WebView, but ultimately you’re still running a web app on your desktop.

@dreamsofcode_io Yeh that's why I dropped all the WebView stacks (tried Electrobun, Tauri and electron wasn't happy with perf) and wrote it in Zig(with C bindings for GUI etc) Still a work in progress 😁 github.com/JonathanRiche/…

@dreamsofcode_io Only for Mac and Linux, Windows has there own that’s super optimized but Mac OS has there own one that’s bad and Linux forked it and its even worse 😂

@dreamsofcode_io but it's also Rust imo. there was an interesting experiment with wry and servo IIRC but it's still just prototypes over prototypes, Electron trumps them all in real-world scenarios

@dreamsofcode_io Yeah, I went with Electrobun instead of Electron but almost feel like I got suckered at this point. Now I’m wondering if I should just keep building with Electrobun and then rewrite in Electron once I’ve iterated on the shape of it enough. (And then even later rewrite in GPUI).
